So what is known so far?

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 8:29 am

Mostly in terms of features. I'd watch the various videos but my connection is totally bunk at the moment.

Voiced protagonist. Felt this was completely unnecessary but meh.

There is some sort of settlement building function.

Power Armor seems to be like a vehicular thing in a way.

That is about all I know. Trying to figure out what major departures this has from the previous game.

Looots of speculation. If you just want the confirmed info, you'll really just have to watch the E3 presentations.

Skills are all but gone. At least in the fashion they were previously. There is evidence you can "rank up" skills in some of the trailers. As in, "SCIENCE RANK 3 REQUIRED".

Maybe the ranks will come in the form of perks you can take, but we don't know much at this point.

Also, Mods will be coming to consoles. Xbox one first, and then ps4 at a later date. There's the matter of a dialogue wheel being implemented now over the traditional "list" dialogue format. Help me out guys I'm blanking on what else we know.

I think you covered most everything. I will add, extensive weapon modification, objects in world have purpose for use in crafting, layered armor system instead of onesie outfits.

Oh good call!

There's been a lot of negative discussion on the direction FO4 is headed, but if there's one thing I'm please about, it's layered armor. That's a step in the right direction by me. The chest and legs being combined in Skyrim was silly. Now, not only are chest and legs separated, but they are further separated by each individual limb.

I agree, but I am optimistic we may see a return to a Morrowind level of freedom with choosing what armor pieces you want to wear in the next Elderscrolls game (really hoping its Elsweyr, obviously! Lol).

I'd put 20 dollars down on it being in Elsweyr, to be honest with you. Just seems like a logical next step to me. I think within the next 20 years they'll take another shot at making a proper game involving the entire continent.

I also wish they committed to a jungle for Oblivion because I'd like to see a High Rock game. Which would be very Tolkien-esque fantasy, naturally.

Ugh, I could chat about my hopes for the future of TES and its past all day long, but I really don't want to derail this thread lol!

OP: I highly recommend watching all of the videos on Fallout4.com as soon as you get a chance. They show a decent amount of good stuff and some, shall we say, controversial stuff as well.

There are androids.

I saw at least one monster with only one arm - it looked like some kind of mutated horror.

There are swamp people and swamp areas.

Conversation trees are different.

The settlement building function is extensive, BTW - raiders can raid your settlement and you have to build defenses. You actually place walls and furniture where you want it. It was mentioned that was all completely optional though.

Mirelurks look a lot different.

I saw some kind of mutated one-armed monster briefly.

There are android enemies.

Scorpions and molerats can burrow now.

The environment appears to be more reactive - I am pretty sure I saw minigun fire break windows.

The dog can be used to fetch items and the interface to make it do so appeared easy to use.

The UI in general is now contextual.

The weapon modding/crafting function is very extensive and covers all weapon types.

The new armor system is per body part instead of a suit like FO3.

Animations are better.

There will be mods. The toolset will come out later (after the game).

Skills may be out. Perks are still in. People theorize the two were merged somehow. Unsure about traits (from NV). They may be gone.

I saw at least one character with a robot hand. I don't know if he was an android and just lost his "skin" or if it was a person with a cyborg hand.
