Game lagging, I think I've tried everything.

I am having an ongoing problem with this game; where it lags stutters or lags. I can't really do anything while it is like this and have to wait for it to pass. I'm not sure what the game is trying to do when this is happening, but I thought it was because my settings were too high. I set everything to low, I even downloaded the configuration tool from nexus mods, turned off god rays, running in windowed mode, turned off mouse acceleration. I'm not sure what is going on here and why this happens. Can anyone help me out?

My computer is a Asus G73Jh running windows 7 64 bit. It has an I7, 6GB RAM. My graphics card is an ATI Mobiity Radeon HD 5870. Any help/tips concerning this would be great. I love the game, but these instances where the game lags so much I can't even walk, look at at my pip boy, or even save without waiting, for what seems like an eternity at times, ruins gameplay.

I'm curious how you got the game to run at all with that. I tried with 6GB and it would not run due to "Your computer does not meet minimum requirements and FO4 will now close". (Minimum being 8GB)

I have the requirements and the game auto-set itself to Ultra. I thought this was a good thing.

Then I emerged into the wasteland and the framerate is unbearably bad. I tried lowering everything too and there was little difference.

I might have to wait for an official or unofficial performance patch.

I haven't had a game run this bad since, ever.

I have a 4GB computer with 1GB VRAM and it can run the game on high.

?I'm pretty sure FO4 only uses 2.9 GB - 3.1 GB of Memory.

Although for some freaking reason, my game stutters on my computer with 8GB Ram and a 4GB VRAM.

As with all games it depends on resolution and texture settings.

My system 1920x1200 / Ultra High, uses ~2200MB VRAM and ~5700MB RAM (recorded with MSI Afterburner/Rivatuner). Also those figures may go higher as I progress through the game.

edit: figures are total memory usage not just the Fallout 4 app, but still applies.

So why did my game complain about my lack of RAM and refuse to work??? Rather odd.

I'm seeing similar VRAM numbers but only 4500MB RAM used (so far) with the same resolution and settings as you. I'm using MSI Afterburner as well. I have it set up to use my keyboard's LCD screen for easy access.

I've been to Diamond City where people have complained of FPS issues. Though my FPS do go into the mid 40's, there is no lag to it at all. If I wasn't looking at the numbers and going purely on how it plays I'd have never known it was below 60.

System: I7 950 OC'd to 4.2 with 8GB 1600Mhz 9-9-9-24 RAM and an R9 280X DirectCU II TOP.

Well my system may have more overhead. My RAM use is usually around 2.2-3GB in Windows. I have 16GB of RAM, so I'm less concerned about optimizing Windows memory use.
