Raiders taking cover from fire

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 3:54 am

I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed, but I saw a raider taking cover behind some sand bags in this video. It take place around 2:35-2:40 in the video. He then gets shot from above by laser fire.

It's nice to see that all raiders won't be mindlessly charging you.

100% agree--I'm sure enemy AI is going to be tougher than what we're used to!

If you continue watching there's another one taking cover behind a crate while firing and then another taking cover behind a building support beam. Good stuff!

Do you guys think this means there are some covers we can shoot through?

Yeah, I noticed the cover use too, was very happy with it. At 2:58 you can see a raider actually "lean." It looks awesome, we will finally have gunfights that dont just consist of standing in the open mindlessly trying to out dps each other.

Yeah, I'm pretty excited about this. It will be nice to fight some raiders that are in a fortified bunker or something similar. May have to get sneaky with explosives :)

Even better, go sneaky with a Flamer!

Yeah, that would work too! I usually don't use them thought because of the weight. I carry too much other stuff.

I don't either to be honest, the weight is pretty terrible.

At Microsoft's E3 2015 conference when Todd Howard showed off Fallout 4 I saw when your in the Power Armor in that small town when you are firing the minigun in a house that actual bullet holes get created in the houses walls that you can see through, they did not look like bullet hole decals.

Also one of the 70 articles talking about Fallout 4 one of them talks about Bethesda Games Studios hiring a employee(s) from Bungie to develop a combat system for Fallout 4 from scratch or at least improving the combat system a lot.

Good that they dodge and crouch now. I can't praise Bethesda for implementing things that were on the PS2, though. I'm still glad it's in, however.

Hopefully the raiders from the mini-gun segment realize they can crouch, too.

Lets just pretend those guys were in a state of shock at seeing an enemy in power armor and did not know how to respond.

(Their behavior in the segment admittedly looked dumber then at other points)

Hmm, the Chinese Crimson Dragoons crouched in O:A and also the tribals in Honest Hearts. Maybe they have worked on this.

I'm sure they'll fine tune the behavior. I remember a few things changed from Skyrim's E3 demo going into the live product. Like, giant's didn't float to the ground when thrown from a dragon's claws. I also remember getting an enormous amount of [censored] for defending the stealth AI (particularly the scene where the guy's buddy gets hit by an arrow in bleak falls barrow, and the other guy just gets alerted but doesn't move). The Ai's reaction to stealth kills was a lot more fluid in the final build.
