As the title says, after I hit "play" in the launcher, the game crashes to desktop after 1 to 2 seconds. Usually, it gets just far enough for me to see the "please stand by" screen. I don't get an error message, and Event Viewer doesn't show anything wrong.

I have made sure my graphics drivers are up to date. My hardware is well above the minimum requirements. I've tried a number of reinstalls, plus turning it off and back on. None of the fixes I've founded online for similar problems have worked, so I'm posting here in the hopes that someone has an idea. Bethesda customer support doesn't seem to care, and I'd really like to play this game. Thanks to anyone who has a suggestion. My DxDiag is below.

OK, Firstly, this issue is [censored], we've all been there, 30 different drivers, reinstalled 20 times, i just about lost a kilo of hair with stress, lol.
Secondly, my computer is not under-powered, please check the minimum specs before anything else. I have a i53330 @3.80GHz, 16GB ram, multiple SSDs, and a GTX 960 4GB.
Thirdly, I tried many "tips" to get it working first, including altering my ini which did nothing lol.

So, basically, right click the fallout 4 icon on your desktop, then go to properties.
Now, make sure that it isnt set to open as admin in the "compatibility" section.
Next thing to do is navigate to Documents (my documents on older systems) to find your "My Games" folder.
Find the folder named "Fallout 4" and delete it.

Open the game and enjoy... at least i did. Good luck and have fun guys

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm afraid I don't see any "Compatibility" section when I select "Properties" on my Fallout 4 Desktop icon.

Instead I get four tabs. "General," "Web Document," Security," and "Details." Is it in one of those?

i'll double check for you and post screenshots, for now, try removing that folder, i've messed with heaps of [censored] and every time it didnt launch, a quick delete of everything in that folder fixed it

Thanks. At the moment, deleting that folder doesn't seem to effect the problem. When I launch Fallout 4, it just recreates the folder, and then I have the same crash to desktop.

did you delete that folder and then try going through the launcher? it has to set up for your hardware. After that, try fullscreen first, with your resolution set properly. Report back lol

Bethesda should realize that they make people want to pirate their games instead when they have to deal with this sort of [censored] after buying a physical copy lol

I'm afraid not, but I appreciate the assistance anyway. When I click "Properties" on the Fallout 4 desktop shortcut, the window that comes up doesn't have the "Compatibility" tab I'm seeing on your screenshot. I'm not sure how to make it appear, or even if I can.
