*Spoiler* Shroud Quest

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 5:44 am

So, for the final part of the Silver Shroud quest, where you're supposed to kill Sinjin in the hospital, there's also an optional part where you can save Ken. I've tried for about an hour now but I can't seem to save him. I've tried shooting without talking, sneaking by with a stealth boy, and searching for an alternate route to the room. I know there's two hard to pull off speech options which probably does it, but I'm not at that level yet and wanted to know if was possible to save Ken without progressing elsewhere and leveling Charisma and coming back. Advice? Any is greatly appreciated.

You can try snipping Sinjin before he starts talking.

The only way I could do it was to take the red persuasion option that was called kill me first, or something like that. If you pull it off they agree to make him watch as they kill you instead....or try to anyway.

The kill me first option was the only thing I could find that worked.

Too bad we don't have FNVs C4 - just drop some in everyone pocket at once and pop ^^

Dawg, just talk to sajiuai whatever his name is and persuade him that killing the shroud in front of ken is worse then killing ken. Or something else there's probably different ways of persuading him. Then pop some phychojet and take everyone in the room out. Watch out for the girl in the back she's a tricky one

You need to make the charisma check to persuade Sinjin to kill you first. Anything else will be hard as Sinjin is a tough opponent and can't easily be one-shoot killed. Since you already seem to be reloading, just take the option until the persuasion succeeds (don't take the other Charisma check, it will make the others run away but Shinjin will still kill Kent).

I just did this quest last night.

*SPOILERS BELOW*

I had to reload several times to save Kent, but I finally got it done by popping some mentats and choosing the "kill me first" option that others have mentioned. I thought this whole quest was one of the best I've played so far, but if I have any complaint it's that I wish it had been possible to save Kent while still staying in character as the Shroud. Still, it's a great quest.

Yep, I loved that quest too. Alongside saving Kent being a small challenge, I also loved the voice-acting: the Sole Survivor speaks awkwardly in the beginning, but when you face Sunjin, he talks naturally. I also like how he reacts to Kent's answer after being saved: tries to sound like Shrioud but fails if you take the bottom option and if you "your choice" option, he gurgles before managing to say that XD

Well, the Sole Survivor is a comic fan (as seen by Grognak in his house and going all "YES!" when he finds a magazine) so I guess it is not surprising that you can make him sound like that.

But what happens if you deal with the targets in "evil" way? (letting hte first two go and finishing the assassination mission for the third) I never had the heart to check it out...

Did this at level 23 last night. Harvey was my companion. I tried the dialogue options multiple times but even with all his raider friends gone sinjin was murdering Kent. Ultimately what I did was use a 68 damage combat rifle, pop a psycho and orange mentats in the elevator, and come in and blow sinjins head off before saying anything to him. Also had a critical strike primed for him. Sinjin died before killing Kent and his raiders ignored him while I cleaned them up

Yeah I already decided I'm not doing that quest until I'm at a high enough Charisma to keep Ken alive in my next character.

Exactly where I'm stuck right now, even if I kill that guy first one of the other guys kills kent anyway, there just seems to be no way around it other then passing the persuasion options.

Hmmm, guess I was lucky then... I went in at under lvl20 but after the talk and going into VATS, the Mysterious Stranger showed up and ended the issue with Sinjin. :D

I chose the one that persuaded his goons to run away, and popped him in the head a few times.

You don't need a high charisma to save Ken. If you select the answer as Shroud option at every stage of the conversation then the henchmen will become convinced that you really are the shroud and they'll leg it and hide in the corner, then you just shoot Sinjin in the head till he stops protesting, I dropped him with 2 rounds from my .44 and saved Ken with just 2 bullets at level 15.

If you sneak is high enough and stay in the elevater and can one shot the first two nameless thugs then there will be no reprecussions.
After only avery and sinjin left i walk up as the shroud and end the dialog with a very convincing shroud rant and avery runs off so its just me and sinjin left as soon as it starts I pop in a pshyco and a jet shoot him with my plasma sniper aaaaaand nope!!
After hours of reloading that same situation One of my sniping perk effects and sinjin goes flying backwards with jet still active I run like unholy hell to the stairs and press on the trigger button and i dont stop untill he turns into goo he never even got up.

If you talked in the 'Shroud Voice' through the whole quest and used it on Sinjin his thugs back off thinking you're the real Silver Shroud and it gives you a split second to get a VATS headshot off on Sinjin.

I took a few tries to get this but i found the way that got me my closest efforts and eventually my success was to stay in the lift to kill shinjin with my commando rifle free shooting for headshots.

As soon as he dropped i steamed the other 3-4 dudes with the shottie using the VATS to take out the enemy who was up on the platform with shinjin and Ken as that enemy finished Ken of a few times after i had killed shinjin!!

ya i just learned this also if you shoot the first two after the shroud rant sinjin doesnt take a second to talk to his people instead he goes straight to shooting kent. Dont shoot his people just let them run away!

I got it done by intimidating his thugs by picking the Shroud options all the time.

Then I VATS him in the head with my Overseer's sniper rifle and having a Crit.
