I have been trying to get the alien blaster for a little while now and i have bought several things from him for the hell of it and noticed that none of the items i buy go into my inventory ...... its like i am paying for nothing :facepalm: Is this supposed to happen? PS also he never has anything for sale in his barter and there is nothing to steal from him

Please specify. What merchant are we talking about here? Besides, if I remember correctly the Alien Blaster can only be found at a special encounter, correct me if I'm wrong

If he has no possessions whatsoever, I think you may have the wrong merchant.

You're half-right. It can only be found in a special encounter in Fallout 1. It can also be found in Fallout 2 in the hands of a traveling merchant who occasionally appears north of Modoc. Every time you run into him, there's a small chance that he'll have an alien blaster on him which you can buy or steal from him.

Thanks for mentioning that. I had found the crashed alien spaceship in Fallout 1 and got the alien blaster from there, but hadn't seen it in Fallout 2 yet. I'll have to keep my eyes open for that merchant next time I play through it.

No its the right merchant his name is willy and hes north of modoc and yes i know how to use the barter system .....as i said he has NOTHING in his barter box and there is never anything to steal from him in the 30 or so encounters i have had with him already :banghead: and whenever i purchase his item in the dialog box it doesnt take away any of my money and it doesnt put anything into my inventory

I think i know what encounter you mean. Thing is, i think its bugged if you did not patch your game. I may be wrong tho. :blink:

Yeah thats what i originally thought too....maybe i installed the patch wrong bah whatever i stopped caring

Not quite right. It's a rare encounter, but doesn't get its own special perma-marker. His items for sale vary, can be things like a powerfist, a hunting rifle, spiked knuckles, etc. The randomized item for sale is what makes it so incredibly difficult to get the blaster.

Trick is, you have to talk to Willy and listen to his sales pitch, NOT trade with him! When he offers to sell you some unknown thing for $10000, that's your blaster. If you try to steal from him BEFORE listening to him talk, he will never have anything. If you buy one blaster, then you can then steal the other 4 out of his pocket.

Where exactly do you mean directly north as in the same square? Or close or far is he 'm trying to find thought it wouldn't be hard if my character had 10 luck.

I just kinda wandered around in the nine squares (forming a large 3x3 square) north of Modoc, and I found him eventually.

When I came across willy he said "Boy do I have a deal for you" or something like that. I didnt wanna pay him so I just gunned him and his cohorts down. I looted his body and found 2 alien blasters on him. Those guns are sick
