Music Won't Stay Off...

I play without music and I turned it all the way down but for some reason it keeps turning back up again. I lowered it and saved the game and the exited so that it would save it permanently to the ini file (at least that is how it worked in previous Bethesda games) but still it comes back on.

Weird. Never heard of this happening before. I know the main menu music is always there, but once you get in game, it should go away... This isn't the music on the radio we're talking about, right?

No, just the background game music. It seems random and the only thing I can think of is that I tend to use quicksaves which I normally avoid since Bethesda games have a history of quicksave issues. Since all my characters are essentially throw aways till after a couple of patches come out I don't care that much at this point though.

I wonder if it could be a UAC thing... Have you tried running the game as Administrator and tried turning off the sound. I also don't have the music on anymore either and I exclusively quick save.

Hey!

Sounds funny. You say it is random.. Are you sure it isen't the radio?

It has a slider too, and there are radios about and around.

I can't think of anything else.

I believe those values are stored in the Fallout4prefs.ini file, which gets reset every time the game's loaded for some people. Go into the game, change the music volume, then go into your My Games>Fallout 4 folder, then right-click properties on the .ini file, and set it to read-only. That'll make it so that the game can't change or remake that file and undo your settings -but it also means that you can't go in and change any of the settings in it in-game, unless you uncheck the read-only box first. See if that helps.

Ok that would explain it. I wonder why its resetting for some people though. That would also explain why my FOV changes for the Pipboy sometimes change as well. Thanks.
