my theory on future dlc's

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 9:02 pm

I have had the same thought TBH.

The East Coast, as primitive to the NCR as it is, still has trade routes going all the way from North Carolina, all the way north to Boston, as far west as Pittsburgh, and as far north-west as Ronto.

NYC lies within that area, and no one mentions it at all. Even Philadelphia got a mention of bring a ruin, and was called "that dump". If NYC survived in any way, one would think it would have gotten SOME mention by people in D.C., the Pitt, or even Zimmer, since he would have had to pass it on his way to D.C., but nope, it goes totally unmentioned.

The only mention of NYC in-game, that I know of, is in the Fallout 4 E3 vids, where the TV news guy says they got confirmed reports of nukes hitting NYC, this being moments before The Sole Survivor and his wife run off to reach Vault 111.

I do remember Ron Perlman's Anchorman saying NYC got hit by nukes. Perhaps there will be other rumors about NYC as well. Given that they will probably want to continue the east coast story for the Fallout Series, I can't imagine Bethesda doesn't see dollar signs all over a game set in New York City, over used as it may be.

I suspect they will actually start moving south into the American south-east rather then using NYC.

Fallout 3, and its DLC, set up 5 regions as being "important" on the east coast. Those being C.W., the Pitt, The Commonwealth, Ronto, and The Broken Banks.

We got The C.W. in Fo3, The Pitt in the Fo3 DLC of the same name, and are getting The Commonwealth in Fo4. So long as they do Ronto in a Fo4 DLC akin to The Pitt, that only leaves The Broken Banks in North Carolina left to do, and that is a good place to introduce lore about the American south-east, places like the Miami wasteland, The New Orleans wasteland, and maybe the Atlanta wasteland.

Ronto being in a Fo4 DLC is based on the assumption that the LW didn't fire the alien mothership deathray at earth when given the chance, and that Ronto wasn't completely destroyed in a massive fireball like as is what happens if you do fire it at earth.

Would be funny to hear it did happen though. If only because all the people who want MZ to not be canon would have to accept it is.

Oh man, a Call of Cthulhu type dlc mixed with a Dead Money vibe and gameplay would be extraordinary!

I actually hope they avoid more Lovecraftian stuff after our excursion there via Point Lookout and Fallout 3. Something aquatic would be nice

Ah but New England is where most of his stories take place! It would be a shame to waste it! I would settle for a short Lovecraft inspired side quest if not a full on DLC.

I know they've already started on the DLC. I just hope it's a larger expansion. With a 400 hour vanilla game I could care less about those small DLC quests they had in previous Fallout games.

I'm mixed. It sounds like something unique and interesting but I'm not sure whether I'd personally like it in a Fallout game. I haven't read any Lovecraft so I hope it wouldn't be too supernatural. Always thought the weird book thing in Point Lookout and the Dunwich building seemed a bit out of place in a sci-fi game.

Well with multiple references and a few quests spread across many of their games, some people over at Bethesda are big Lovecraft fans! I liked the way it was handled in F3/PL, the Dunwich Building at first was just an oddity and they actively sent you there with "The Dark Heart of Blackhall" quest. They wanted you to experience these themes. I would be willing to bet we will see more. I like it because A.) I'm a fan of Lovecraftian horror/sci-fi, and B.) it was a nice change of pace from the ordinary Wasteland stuff (which is awesome, make no mistake).

My hope is that the DLCS dont just sit as other accessible locations. That there is crossovers back in the main map /game. Like the Blackhall quest above. That companions can move with you, that new companions can be found and move back.

Maybe the Canadian Maritime Provinces maybe even in Newfoundland.

Vermont would be interesting maybe in Stowe. The Von Trapps could play a major roll in it.

Yeah, that's what I really hated about the DLC in previous games.

i suspect the 400 hour thing is over more tha one play through but meh.

The reality is that given how they work there probably already working on at least Tes6 and fallout 5 and if they are smart may have already let in someone for fallout 4.5.

Note this is largely if the next project is TES 6, it may be F 5 then TES.

Why? So far I've only written the first three acts on my mods main quest chain, three side quests, and one special encounter, I'm templateing a rough draft of the next conversation tree but that may take a while because I'm debating on if I need to make the " anvil" a bit larger or smaller.
