I imagine we'll run into his other rival "up north". We'll probably fight him/her/it and get some references to Desmond. Then we'll kill it is before Desmond shows up, thus negating his reason to even come up north(should he have survived).

It realy does not bother me one way or the other. If he shows up then great, if not then great again.
