BRING IN THE OCULUS!

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 4:27 am

I'd love to be able to use the oculus with this game. I wonder what kind of compatability it'll have besides being a large monitor projection. It'd be nice to be able to look around without moving the gun with it.

Hard to say, considering the things not commercially available except in Dev Kits.

Yes, the dev kit is only $300 and is functionable. It wouldn't really be hard for them to make a plugin for it.

I'm sure it wouldn't.

300$ is a little steep in my opinion. Bills, gas and food...or video goggles...

It'll be a huge first-person release, I bet VR mods will come soon enough.

i'm sure at least one mod will pop up that makes it VR. there was one for skyrim, so why not one for fallout?

Well, as far as I'm concerned, I think VR is a part of the future. There are games with controls that are too complex to fit in just on a gamepad and without seeing the keyboard (or whatever controller you may have) it can prove too much of a hassle. Plus some people simply don't like to be completely disconnected from the real world.

But hey, maybe the few complex games will die out in the future, heh.

Kinect was the future too, back when it was project NATAL.

It's just gimmicky.

VR does kinda feel like a gimmick to me, it's practically the "motion controls" of this generation, but way far off in the future when the technology is better I can see it being something more.

Too few quality games imo. It could still have potential, maybe with oculus. Some games, I think Arma III was/is one of them, has a key you can press to look around while you're running in one direction. So you can move and look. I want to be able to walk in a straight line and see what's above, below, left and right of me. I don't know if a mod could offer that if it isn't hard coded in it in the first place. It'd also be nice to use those two single hand controllers to be able to move my hands and arms in the VR world too. Maybe something like kinect mixed in coudl be good or too much, I dunno. I don't have that and I don't think many people, myself included, would want to stand for hours on end while playing. It'd be for for 10 minutes then I'd be like I want to sit down. Obviously I wont' be able to feel the wind or grip of the gun/tool. That's for another generation. I guess I could install a VR fan weather system, haha.

FO4 is essentially finished. You won't get anything quality out of Oculus here either. (Not that there is much out there right now that's "quality" either). A mod could offer you oculus support, but trust it will still just look and feel gimmicky, especially since the game isn't built around it.

Trust me, all this motion gaming and VR stuff is just a fad. When it boils down to it, nobody wants to be waving their arms, and turning their heads 180 deg. to see behind them when they could just relax and hold a controller.

It'll be popular for the next little while, and then dwindle like the motion control support for gaming that kinect used.

Problem with motion controls was that it was overused. Use it for extra controlls like head tracking and voice comands to followers makes sense: Charge, come, redraw. hold position.

Making the entire game works only with kinetic did not outside of a few games.

It is definately not for everyone. Dying Light supports it but... it needs polishing and then some. Most of the interfaces are controllers to sit on the couch. Like I said, I'd like it but I'd still rather sit and relax most of time. I don't think I'd pay for all the possible things or give up the mouse and keyboard just yet but it'd still be fun to try out with the gizmos. Maximizes the immersion. look up Top 5 Virtual Reality gadgets of the future on youtube. I can't post the link.
