So will Fallout 4 have Apparel that you can customize?

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 11:22 am

#Issue 1

I know that you can customize your power armour but that isn't what I mean. I want to know if you can customize standard apparel? I don't mind if it hasn't got that feature, I just want to know why they wouldn't do that because you can literally customize everything else e.g. Power Armour, Weapon's, Building's, Gunships? and Spaceship's? I heard something about to.

Please let me know!!!

I'm not really sure what you mean by customise. The customisation of Power Armour revolves around selecting parts of different types of Power Armour in order to make a whole, unique suit of it.

And you'll be able to do that with regular armour (but not apparel) as far as I know. Apparel will be a full, non-customisable body of clothing, while armour will come in pieces (such as Light Leather Left Arm and Combat Armour Chest Piece) that you place on top, allowing you to mix and match different types of armour on top of your apparel. However in that sense, apparel could be considered customisable as you'll be altering its appearance with armour pieces (e.g. making the Vault Suit look more like Fallout 3's Armoured Vault Suit by placing certain Light Leather parts on top).

Hope that makes sense.

I took that as being able to either A) equip seperate clothing under an armor type B ) being able to equip only certain pieces of armor (screenshots show leather armor with only one arm covered) or C) a combo of both

No real way to know for sure until they tell us or we see for ourselves.

Basically, if you look at what they showed in the Pip Boy during the e3 presentation, armour is now broken up into individual pieces. The example we got shown was Light Leather Left Arm, Light Leather Right Arm, Light Leather Left Leg, Light Leather Right Leg and Light Leather Chest Piece, and all those pieces sat on top of the Vault Suit.

I think that's a fairly strong indicator that all forms of armour will come in individual pieces (much like how it was in Morrowind), so you could match Light Leather Left Leg with something like Combat Armour Right Leg or Metal Armour Chest Piece. Clothing itself will take the same role that robes did in Morrowind - they are one whole piece that can be worn along with the many different pieces of armour.

Pretty much just look up some morrowind gameplay and notice all the different ways you can wear armor. That's what we are going to get, which is pretty nice.

Im wondering if there will be anything with the same idea as enchanting.

The weapon mods, to me, have an enchanting type vibe. Take gun A and add part B and C to add two effects, like plus damage and zoom.

Take Armor A and add part B and C for Energy weapon resistance and plus sneak.

Theres been no mention of it, but I see it as a natural step if they did a system for guns.

Edit: Then again maybe that is what they are kind of going for with the two arms and legs and chest piece(any helmets?). Have the base suit or clothing with X effect. Then you can add all the other pieces on top with different bonuses. Sounds more likely thats whats happening then what I was originally thinking.

From the description on the fallout 4 site

Collect, upgrade, and build thousands of items in the most advanced crafting system ever. Weapons, armor, chemicals, and food are just the beginning - you can even build and manage entire settlements.

I can hardly wait to see what kind of combos we can come up with. I'm really happy they are going back to a layered armor system!

Hey, thanks for that. I wasn't sure if we'd be able to make our own chems this time around. Looks like my 'Walter White' character is a go!

I saw in an anolysis video what looked like that home chemistry set that we got in Fallout 3, during the settlement crafting portion... So I bet not only can you make chems but you craft the equipment to make the chems as well.
