» Sat Nov 28, 2015 8:07 am I've seen a lot of mention of the Mama Murphy glitch that many people are having with her getting stuck in the ceiling in her chair. I'm having a slightly different glitch involving both Mama Murphy and Preston. I got to the point where I had to build Mama Murphy's chair, which I did. She sat down in it, and I believe I talked to her once after she sat down. Then I went off and spent like another 35 hours on the game just exploring, fortifying my settlements, doing side missions, going to Diamond City, etc. before getting back to the Minutemen missions and Mama Murphy.
What's happening is Mama Murphy is just standing in front of the chair. She won't say anything when I click 'talk,' I can't assign jobs to her, I can't give her the chems she wanted...nothing. She just stands there facing the chair. I can access the chair in the workshop menu. I've tried moving the chair around to different locations, including outside, and all she does is move to it and stand in front of it again. I've seen a few people mention that shooting her down, moving the chair, and then leaving Sanctuary for a while (to let the settlers calm down and stop trying to kill you) has fixed the problem for the chair in ceiling glitch. I tried doing this, and it didn't work. If I just scrap the chair, she'll start walking around, but she still won't say anything at all when I try to talk to her.
In addition to this, anytime I try to talk to Preston, he won't actually talk. He just does the "idle chit chat" that all of the settlers do when you walk by them. I've completed all of the tasks from Sturges (food, water, defenses), and he's saying that he doesn't have anything else for me to do right now, but he thinks that Preston wants to have a word with me. As I understand, Preston asks you if you want to join the Minutemen at this point. However, if I go to Preston right after Sturges tells me this, he doesn't tell me anything. He just says some one-line statement in passing.
Has anyone else experienced this glitch? Is there any kind of fix for it? I'm about 40 hours into the game so far, and I've already gotten a lot done. I'd hate to have to restart the game, but if that's the only fix, I'd rather do it sooner than later. Any help would be very much appreciated.
