Microstutters (even on 60fps)

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 11:36 pm

I tried so many fixes and none helped... and then i watched this.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-_PAkpsOa4
tried disabling hyper threading.
tried overclocking monitor from 60 to 64hz.
tried disabling vsync from ingame and enabling from nvidia panel/other software.
tried enboost and forcing fps limit to 60 frames, 59 frames, 55 frames, 45 and 30.

tried disabling vibration on controller.
tried borderless and windowed.

tried switching from xboxone controller to dualshock 4 controller.

tried disabling mouse and leaving only controller.

tried running controller with and without controller emulation software (ds4/inputmapper). results are same. microstutters are still there.

ifpsclamp=60 - is not a solution for a gamebryogame!
disabling vsync all together is not a solution for gamebryogame!
... and then i disabled xboxone controller and tried m/k and microstutters were gone.
also, controllers have acceleration that i am unable to disable.

pc. specs:

i7 4970k

8gb ddr3 1900 hz

760 gt 2gb vram

win7 sp1 latest updates.

ssd samsung 840

I know this might sound odd but I believe is was CCNA who mentioned try disabling vibration on the controller in Settings.

P.S.

I'm just shooting in the dark here based of your "and then i disabled xboxone controller and tried m/k and microstutters were gone." comment.

Worth a shot at least.

Also, try clamping the frame rates to something like 52. Microstutters could be introduced at 54/55 FPS on earlier games on some systems.

Seen this issue in a few other games but not as harsh, some have fixed it by unplugging their mouse when using the controller.

Give it a go see if it works.

I get microstutters all game, even in cutscenes, watching guns in the pipboy, or anywhere.

My game never crashes, i get a solid 50-60 fps. I played the main questline till the end 3 times already, playing the diferent factions.

My pc far exceeds the requirements for fallout 4. I play on a SSD, my OS is on an SSD. My game is not on the C-Drive.

I tried the usual fixes, but nothing helps.

I use mouse & keyboard exclusively, since i hate consoles and controllers.

I disabled the controller support in game, and the stutters are as good as gone.

Might want to try Enbseries 0.283 mod at Enbdev.com or get it from Nexus.

That fixed my side to side stuttering.

My PC specs are nVidia GTX 660, i5 4570 @3.2, 8 GB RAM , Windows 10

I have constant frame rate drops, and micro stuttering. Places with lots of trees and shadows, Diamond City, and in or around buildings with lots of enemies are the worst areas this happens in.

I have tried disabling or turning anything/everything possible down or off. I have tried most everything the OP stated he tried. Maybe I just did not do some of the tweaks properly. I am kinda new to PC gaming,..this is my first PC I bought a few years back.

I know my PC is not very good but I have been able to play other games (Battlefield 4/Shadow of Mordor) with high settings and stay at a constant 60 fps.

If anyone knows of anything that has helped someone with similar PC specs to mine(aside from upgrading my hardware, I am aware that would help), I would appreciate advice or suggestions. Thanks in advance!

To me this seems like a input lag, from the "driver" / controller.

While its running with controller, it expects to run at a certain "speed".

But because the game was tuned for spesific hardwares and spesific softwares from consoles, the problems starts to occur, when the game engine "THINKS" its on a Console platform, because thats what it was coded to operate on... but in truth finds it self on a PC, which has completely different hardware and softwares and drivers then it was designed for.

Disclaimer: I'm reserving the right to speak my free thoughts, and not claiming at all that this is FACT, but only THEORY.

I think the game engine is running out of "sync" with the drivers and hardware, and therefore is trying to "jump" to the Correct visual feedback you are "supposed" to see... but the engine is running entirely different because you are running it on a system it has not been prepared for... and when the engine is trying to close the gap between what the engine is scripted to "THINK" is going on, and what is "actually" being visually displayed on your monitor... you end up with it trying to catch up and zero it self out..

And it does so every so often, but it can never sync. and hence you end up with a stutter.

I kept mine at the default which was 4 gigs. It eliminated my side to side issue right off the bat.

Are you guys doing fpsclamp=60 in the ini files? That seems to be the only way to fix this issue. I can't believe this actually exists in Fallout 4. It existed in Fallout 3, went away in Skryim, and is now back in Fallout 4. Never buying Bethesda again.

Never heard of fpsclamp=60 in the ini file.

I use my graphic card software to cap the FPS at 70.

so i tried last thing that was advised to me, disabling mouse and leaving only controller... game still stutters.

i have also tried running controller with and without controller emulation software (ds4/inputmapper). results are same. microstutters are still there.

also, still not able to disable gamepad acceleration. i have terrible case of motion sickness, and this is why i give up.

just turned on skyrim with 150 mods and my controller... everything smooth. including stable 60 fps, no microstutters, no gamepad acceleration/smoothing.

ill probably leave fallout 4 alone for awhile.
