Game causes computer to reboot.

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 12:02 pm

I have a problem with fallout 4 restarting my computer after sometime. The screen goes blank and then i get the message saying no video signal and then the computer starts again.

I have did several stress test with heaven and furmark. I also ran memtest over a whole day and cannot get the error to repeat. The temperatures are very good with the CPU only going up to 50 c and the GPU never went over 70 c. I do not think it is over heating and my power supply is brand new.

I left fall out 4 running overnight and it never rebooted. It only seem to happen when I exit buildings on the load screen.

I also tried to play other games like metal gear 5, grandtheft auto 5, witcher 3, ARK survival, and skyrim heavy with mods and no reboot.

Event viewer only shows that the computer restarted unexpectedly.

My computer is a Gigabyte r9-280x windforce, fx-8350, 8 gb ddr3 balistics ram, Thermaltake 80 plus gold 750 power supply, Gygabyte 970A-UD3p motherboard, haf 912 case, evo 212 cooler, segate 1 tb 7200 hard drive, windows 10 home.

I also have the newer drivers I installed after removing the older one in safe mode with a program.

I have exactly the same problem, except that it really randomly reboots my pc after 5 minutes ingame this happens, when i loot stuff or look at something to loot.

At other forums people say its because of overheating or a problem with the power supply.

my event viewer says the same thing as yours.

?

The things i already tried to fix the problem:

- updated BIOS

- updated Motherboard drivers

- Clean install nvidia driver

- Cleaned my pc from dust

- Removed and placed new thermal paste on CPU and CPU fan

- used CCleaner to delete internet files

- tried running the game in administrator mode

- tried different power options settings

After everything I tried the problem still occurs, really don't know what to do :(

We were able to have the game running and playing for 8 hours straight and it did not reboot.

Some people on tomshardware.com and steam forums are saying it might be some sort of bug that needs to get patched. It might be true because others are saying that they can run hardware stress test and play other games but cant get the problem to repeat again. This is a stupid problem to have.

I'm going to send RMA request on all my computer parts that have a warranty just in case.

Mine randomly reboots the PC every 20-40 minutes of playing. Nothing is overheating, and sometimes I can play for a few hours without any crashes, but generally its every 20-40 minutes.

I have the same problem myself... it randomly lock up my PC and I have to hard reboot it. I know is not my PC, because I'm able to play any other game I want without this happening (ESO, Witcher 3, Dark Souls, Oblivion modded to the brim, Skyrim modded to the brim, etc.)

Also, I play the game in Windowed and let the Temp monitoring run side by side to the game, and it never even reached the critical temp on neither GPU or CPU core.

I'm currently hesitant to play this game as it is, and will probably wait until coming patches are released non-beta to check again.

Thank you for that link, I downloaded the tool and verified, just in case, it doesn't show any crashes/dumps.

So, at least in my particular case, it's not a blue screen/black screen... it doesn't auto reboot either. It just locks up, and I have to manually cycle power.

On reboot, there are no events on the Event Viewer related to the crash, just the normal Unexpected System shutdown, etc.

For me it happened 2 times in 4 play sessions of about 6hs each, and after the last time (which was on 11/22) I haven't played the game again, but I'm playing other games with no problem at all.

It could be a driver problem (ATI HD7970 here, using last stable drivers from AMD, and I'm hesitant to try the beta one, since last time I did that they screwed up some of my other game)

As I said, it happened just 2 times for me, but in both instances, it crashed as I was rotating the camera very quickly after looting a corpse. Don't know if that's significant or not.

Both crashes were on completely different areas too (one was in an interior site, the other was outside near the water purifying plant with supermutant baddies.)

I posted with the same issue earlier (http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1562242-forced-reboots/), my symptoms are the same as yours, except mine is an auto-reboot, rather than a lock. It seems a problem with the game is the most likely cause. Memory leaks were mentioned. I'm hoping someone will come up with a makeshift solution, but until then my plan is to shelf the game til the patch comes out, and hope that makes a difference.

Hi, I have also been getting a very similar issue, Mine reboots itself after random periods of play, can be 1hr or 2 mins, at different areas, My specs are OK and graphics card drivers are up to date, I have tried contacting support with no luck, the way its being handled I would like my money back and buy a game I can play without these issues.
