Gamebreaking Error w Fallout 4

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 11:41 am

This is both a cry for help and a vent of rage.

So, I have owned Fallout 4 since release day - Bought the Pip Boy Edition, Celebrated the release the night before with my Fallout Monopoly. But since the day of release my Fallout 4 hasn't worked. The problem seems to be the same launch error that others have been having, however all the known fixes on the Forum here and on Reddit. Further more I have contacted GAME Uk's Tech support team and have managed to stump their entire team with my problem. I have tried Driver fixes (updating, Backdating), Resolution and Windowed mode fixes, Compatibility and permission settings, delving into the INI. files, disabling various overlays, playing with the DxCml fix that appeared on YouTube and nothing. I've downloaded and installed the game multiple times (with and without the disc). Nothing. Im still crashing post launcher. the Dxcml did allow my game to launch a few times however the game ran at roughly 1.2 fps. My computer definitely has the specs so i have no idea why.

Like Betheda's site suggests i've sent them the necessary files for them to take a look at my error but i haven't heard back from them - not even a sorry we cant help you till the next patch.

My Specs:

Windows 10 64-bit

Asus Strix Nvidia Gtx 980ti

16Gb Ram

I5-2500 CPU @ 3.30 3.30 Ghz

Please Help or vent with me,

Regards to you all,

Alex "Midgeman" Dunk

Your best course of action would be to round up everyone with the same problem and compare rigs. Everything from hardware to software and find the link. Clearly something is causing an issue.

I feel your pain my friend - one of the reasons why I finally broke down and bought a console. So much easier, less hassle, cheaper, and I pop it in and it just works.

Good luck on your issue.

First thing I would do is run memory test for 24 hours. Then I would try a different video card. Sure sounds like a hardware problem, most likely memory. Nothing recorded in the exception log?

I've tested the game on both a 980 ti AND a 750 ti, both of which i have proff the game runs with. also everyone with the problem I have found seem to have been fixed by one of the fixes that ive tried. completely stumped. memory in what sense? RAM or Hard drive space? because theres around 400gb still of hard drive and 16GB ram is surely enough

Which anti-virus software are you running? I've witnessed Norton 360 and McAfee have interfered with installation and running of Fallout 4. Try disabling your antivirus then running FO4.

Give this bullet a try; install the visual c++ redistributables, .NET framework if there, etc. from the Fallout 4 directory and give it a go again.

Best of luck.

Ilve seriously tried everything. I can't get any of these tricks to work....

I've just swapped out the main drive for an SSD drive, upgraded the Processor, putting in 4 more gigs of RAM, ....
