I'm A bit confused?

Post » Thu Jun 03, 2010 3:21 am

Brink have been one of the games I've been looking forward to in 2011, but after reading that Singleplayer, Co-op and Multiplayer has been merged I'm a bit confused.

I buy most games mostly for multiplayer, and I thought that Brink would be a mix of Gears of war, team fortress, call of duty, and battlefield. And by the gameplay trailers I've seen, It's been done to perfection, I love the graphics and the movement system.

What my question really is.

Is this Left 4 Dead mixed with call of duty?

I'm really confused about what this game will be. Can someone provide links or something.

And NO! I'm not a call of duty fan boy, activision ruined the games...

How will this relate to Left 4 Dead? I can't see no zombie-hordes approaching :P

It got Call of Duty Elements, but I think every shooter got Call of Duty elements, as Call of Duty is a mainstream game, and whoop-ass, I just said Call of Duty 3 (4) times in one sentence!

I can go fish up some links, just wait :P

If you're looking for a game to compare with: Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory or Enemy Territory: Quake Wars.
They will ressemble Brink the most. I don't know where you picked up the L4D reference though :P

It has teamplay from Left for Dead and Battlefield and combat from Team Fortress and Call of Duty, if you want to see it that way.

But it's easier to see BRINK as a game on it's own (a new IP), and not an offspring of the current FPS-gallimaufry.

It's the love child of every game out there, even Pacman and Tetris!

And I am in no way serious about this statement.

The L4D came from it being mission based, and being Solo, co-op and multiplayer in one.

But thanks for links, I have my hopes so high for this game.

L4D isn't related to mission based at all if you compare it with Brink. The other fact is true though.

Although L4D campaign system can be done single player or co-op seamlessly, pretty sure that's the connection.

People have to start thinking less about "it's like with like and like" and more about how this game is bringing amazing NEW stuff to a probably perfected shooter gameplay.

For myself, I only compare with their previous games, but I often find myself comparing to popular shooters as well, when I have to explain something. I do this because it makes it easier to explain why something is either good or bad. People are familiar with certain FPS so we refer to them to get our point across. (like comparing "destroy objective x" with SND in Cod. Just an example)

The problem is there aren't many new things you can put into a game anymore. What makes a game innovative these days is having a unique way of combining features. Parkour has been done in Mirror's Edge and Assassins Creed; involved storylines are common, but not in multiplayer; Co-op has been done, but 8 person co-op is rare; character, skill, and weapon customization are seen often in RPG based games, but not in PvP FPS games; exaggerated colorful artstyles are rare in FPS.

Sure, you could say that Its a lovechild of Mirror's Edge, Shadowrun, Cod Blops, TF2, W:ET, L4D, BF2, or any other combination of games, but the list starts getting so long that its easier to just say that its unique and innovative.
