Carrying things hangs the game

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 1:08 pm

I can't play fallout anymore, It ran fine for 3 days of playing, now that I'm carrying things it hangs, doesn't even CTD, just locks up on a random color and I have to soft boot the computer.
At first I thought it was the starlite drive in, but then it starting hanging elsewhere, then I thought it was to do with black rimmed sunglasses, but i take them off and it still crashes.

I don't know how to write a bug report for this other than, the more I carry, the more it crashes!! I can't see how a patch could even address this!??!

Hey albertajeff!

Can you please post a dxdiag (behind spoiler tags preferably) so we can take a look at your system a little closer?

Hey Albertajeff, thanks for the diagnostics.

Upon review, we see that your CPU and your GPU are both at the very minimum requirements. This can cause hangs like you're experiencing in game. The more items and data that your computer is struggling to process and render, the more likely it is to have problems.

Your GPU drivers are also dated several years old, so you will also want to visit AMD's website and make sure you have the newest set of drivers for your GPU.

You may be able to resolve the problems you're experiencing by updating your drivers and setting all of your in-game graphics settings to minimum, but please be aware that running on a machine below recommended specs may mean you do have performance issues.

thank you for the feedback, I will update the drivers and settings as suggested. I had just assumed since I ran skyrim on medium/high settings I could run this as well.

cheers!

Edit: that did the trick! I updated the drivers, setup in LOW and then tweaked individual things like set actor fade to medium (slider) shadow quality to medium and wetness off and it works great and still looks comparable to high settings, not ultra, but close to high!
