If you can skip the dialogue as in previous Fallout games, does it still really pander to these audiences as you suggest?

Only if you can't read...

Meanwhile I want less dumbing down and more options.

In a hope they won't just skip it and actually pay attention, sure.

Did we really need less dialogue than we could have had without a VP and less RP options for who we want our character to sound like, just so we didn't have to read a line to a choice we were about to make?

If the player has always been inclined to rush through dialogue in the past, they're probably going to do it regardless. A skippers gonna skip.

I agree that limiting dialogue lines is an example of such, but to suggest that limiting RP is as well seems asinine.

I'm not disparaging those that do ardently "RP", but roleplaying is ultimately pretending that your heaped spoonful of soup is an aeroplane...

I'm hoping people spot the anology, even if it's allegorical...

Also I've said i'm indifferent to the inclusion of a voiced PC, but there's a very lucid argument that some of the best storytelling games these days are predicated on strong voice acting for the player character, whether it be: the last of us (a game fo4 is seemingly influenced by), Bioshock: infinite, Mass Effect or the Walking Dead etc.

Well it does limit RP options unless I turn off the VP or mod it out. Not every one of my characters is going to sound like Brian. Hell, none of them are probably. My wily old drifter is going to sound like my young raider type? Every vanilla character anybody makes is going to sound the same? All in the name of not having to read a sentence? That's stupid.

Re-read what I posted. I'm not arguing with you in any way beyond telling you how you're acting and to get over it.

Some people are so petty. I consider myself a writer.

If someone told me I should change someone's name besides any other reason than this other guys name sounded better? I'd probably laugh in their face...

So tell me, have we yet to see if a non-voiced protagonist works better than one that is? In your mind you say yes, but the facts say no.... So before we say Fallout 3 > Fallout 4 you'd damn well better show me where you've played Fallout 4!!!

wait wouldnt the lowest common denominator be the hard core players? Since casual gamers are more abundant in the industry.

Lowest common denominator refers to the simplest group in a demographic.

You know what, you've piqued my curiosity. I'm genuinely interested in a response from you that is something beyond calling me a child and telling me I can't form an argument.

So, from your standpoint you say that a voiced protagonist is a "gimmick" and ruins the game. Why would Bethesda spend all that time and money recording 13,000 lines of dialogue on something as small as a gimmick? Furthermore, what proof do you even have of your claims, if you're so good at arguing and proving your point. Which from what I've seen is lackluster at best. I'm not actually for OR against the voiced protagonist myself, I'm waiting to see how it is for myself before I make any final judgments. You see, unlike yourself I approach most things with at least some modicum of logic, I'm sure this is going way over your head but you must, at some level, understand how immature it is to say something svcks or is amazing without trying it at least once. How do you even know? The answer is simple: you don't. All you have is your opinion which you are stubbornly defending almost to a fanatical degree. But please, tell me how I am wrong and you are right.

I wasn't born yesterday, like you. I don't need to play Fallout 4 to know all my characters are going to sound like Brian Whoever. I don't need to play Fallout 4 to know that having a voiced protagonist means less dialogue overall because you have to voice act every bit of it.

Just because you're new to gaming doesn't mean everyone else is. We done here because you still can't seem to form any sort of argument?

Closed for clean-up - lots of talk about how old everyone is in this thread, very little of actually acting one's age.
