On thing I'd love to see

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 2:40 am

but I know it's too late to add anything, just saying I'd love to see it, is being able to shoot or blow off the limbs off of enemies and them still be alive and react accordingly. As example, if I toss a grenade at a bandit and he runs, maybe the blast wave catches his leg and blows it off. He's still alive, crawling around, either trying to crawl away to safety or trying to shoot me with his 9 mill as his last act of defiance in his last moments of life.

Actually, you are in luck. The recent *cough* footage shows feral ghouls attacking you, sometimes with only two limbs left. Limbs are also shown getting blown off. It's in the game, dude. There was also a part where a ghoul was completely immobilized on the ground, but not fully dead, and the protagonist basically executes it.

Seems they've ramped up energy death animation so people aren't a hollow shell of ash. There's glowing bones and stuff as people disintegrate. Wonder if energy weapons will disintegrate individual limbs rather than the whole individual. Cauterize people's hands off while they whine like Luke in Empire.

Ghouls definetly fight on after death. One of the footages from a Convention was of a Ghoul that was literally acting like a caterpillar because both arms and legs had been blown off . It was still trying to gnaw people to death.

Yeah but they've always had limbs getting blown off but when something lost a limb that meant it was dead. The news of the ghouls gives me hope though since obviously they *can* do it. Hopefully they added that possibility to the human enemies as well.

Humans dont survive losing a limb though. A Shotgun blast that takes off your arm exposes major arteries that continue to pump blood until there is nothing left to pump.. then comes the heart attack as the Heart convulses and stops. Ghoul Biology obviously works differently. Super Mutant too.

I'll be sure to tell all the combat vets who've lost limbs to IEDs in the middle east that they didn't actually survive. Thanks for setting us all straight.

This is somewhat true, without immediate medical attention a person will bleed out if they lose a limb, but even in F4 an enemy losing a limb should be able to crawl around for a bit before expiring.

Their limbs didn't get "blown off", their limbs were serverly damaged and had to by amputated by a surgeon.

This, you can argue the other stuff but I think in the game a blown off limb shouldn't mean instant death, or at least not always instant death.

Hmmm... I wonder if this can happen to the protag as well. This could mean the protag can have synthetic limbs; a possible plus for unarmed builds.
On the other hand, watching your protag helplessly bleeding to death is just painful.

They have medic's that run out and put a tourniquet on them while getting covered by suppressive fire...I doubt raiders are that disciplined and organized while fighting high off psycho...

It should, however, mean a general loss of combat effectiveness (a bit distracted by the OHGODPAIN/etc). At least for regular mammalian critters (people, dogs, brahmin).

Personally, I was fine with how it worked in FO3. I don't feel any sick/perverse/"realism :bonk: " need to dismember live beings and have them writhe around in front of me in agony.

Well if you loose your arms you have an unarmed build :)

Best to loot the arms from some robots first and hope you don't loose your head.

Now that I think about it some more, there's different arguments for/against coming from different premises. Someone could argue something like having to finish off that crawling enemy creates an interesting potentially emotional decision moment. Someone else might just think hey that's cool for the sick/perverse factor :), or feeling like a real bad guy, or the opposite as you say not wanting to see them your enemies in agony. Someone else could make a simple practical argument against prolonging death because they just wanna loot that dead body asap and move on.

Going back to my comment about it not always meaning instant death, I guess at the very least that would provide some variety. Variety is nice, not seeing the same outcomes every time, so yeah I still say let's have instant death sometimes but not always. That variety also spreads things out so everyone from those different arguments is at least pleased some of the time.
