The Dialog System.. Is Atrocious

Post » Sun Nov 29, 2015 2:21 am

Words fail me.. they honestly do. I feared it would be bad, but my Lord it was a whole other level of awful. Not only did you cut and paste from Mass Effect, you actually managed to make their already terrible dialog system even worse..

I actually want to return this game. There is not a single redeeming aspect of the dialog system, and it's a HUGE part of these games. I actively avoid talking to NPCs.. it's honestly THAT bad.

Please tell me you're planning on patching this. Displaying the full text for example in the wheel would go a LONG way in making it less unbearable, it's still beyond awful even then though..

Then return it.

Vote with your wallet.

I guarentee you that within a few minutes this thread will be full of people calling you an idiot or a troll and telling you how the dialogue system is the best thing ever.

Don't even bother. Just get a refund.

Yeah, you're right and I think I will just do that.

I agree with voting with your wallet in premise, but this is a borderline impossible 'vote' to win; and in reality you'll just be denying yourself the better parts of the game by returning it.

If you're serious make an e-petition asking for the old dialogue system back, or at least changes to the new one.

I've been on this forum for years.

I've been a Bethesda fan the majority of my life.

Polls don't work here. Petitions don't work here. Only mods do, and those wont be coming out for a while.

Remember Skyrim on PS3? Beth never fixed it.

Remember the huge saving bugs that plagued Oblivion and completely corrupted your save games? Beth never fixed it.

Remember the MASSIVE unofficial patches with literally thousands of bugfixes to almost every aspect of the game because after playing for more than a few weeks you realize how shoddily made these games really are? I definitely remember.

Remember when Bethesda just stopped patching Skyrim even though they left behind glaring bugs? Beth decided not to fix it.

This endless cycle isn't going to stop.

Just get a refund. Wait for mods.

You're not entirely wrong, but Bethesda does have the propensity to listen to fans, Broken Steel (which ruined the main story imo) is evidence of that as they caved under the multitude of people complaining about a definitive ending.

Broken Steel was planned long in advance and even if it was made in direct response to player criticism, that's one example underneath a tide of bugs and abandoned games that modders are forced to fix.

Seriously, take a look at the unnoficial patchs, go to uesp or the fallout wiki. You'll be hard pressed to find any quest article that doesn't have a massive bug section showing what's fixed by modders. It's embarrassing.

I've spent so much time and energy making polls and starting petitions trying to get this stuff fixed.

It never works. Bethesda does not care. They have your money.

Refund your game. Wait for mods to fix Bethesda's problems. That's the only solution.

What is the big issue with the dialogue system? I guess I'm in the minority but it doesn't bug me at all. I've played morrowind, oblivion, skyrim, fallout 3 and fallout nv but I also played the mass effects so thats why its not a big issue to me.
