The world feels empty and void of interesting quests, places.

I'm giving up,i just can't play this game anymore.I tried to find an interesting location but there is absolutely nothing out there, buildings full of ghouls, raiders, mutants and not a [censored] single settlement with an ounce of personality to it.And if you find one,you get to talk to one person or two wich has two or three dialogue lines at best, incredible.

The problem is that there are no quests or interesting npcs out there to be found,I discovered more than half of the map by jumping from location to location and all i found were hordes of enemies and when i say hordes ,i say [censored] hordes. At times i felt like i was playing Serious Sam with the amount of ghouls, raiders attacking me.

An example of quests I encountered so far.
Find a locket
Find a cat
Find a sword
Kill raiders dem raiders over there
Kill dem bugs over there
Kill dem mutants over there
Harvest some [censored] taters
Find baseball cards
Find plants for a doctor
Tell children stories
Answer a quizz
Clean a small lake for a 12yo kid

Etc,

And more of the same all over the place,it's sad. :sadvaultboy:

These are the usual quests that you encounter guys, these are quests that are given and completed with 2 or 3 dialogue lines. There are no multiple paths to resolve a quest, just straight mmo [censored] stain questing ,the only difference being the voice acting, but i can't say that's a positive thing.

The dialogue tree is a huge turn off as well, you speak with someone for a few seconds ,they ask you for something to do and that's it .You get to ask one or two questions about the quest and that's it.They couldn't even copy the Mass Effect dialogue style ,where you at least had a damn clue about what is going on,but this?

So in the end what happened?

Well ya, I agree the New Vegas world didn't have a lot going on, cant say I've been around Fallout 4 to see if it's better yet, I would assume the world is interesting since I haven't had a let down yet in bethesda's worlds. Though I loved that actual strip in NV. Their quests/story line was interesting for the most part as well in NV.

As far as quests, I've not gone far other than going to Concord, I've mostly been messing around in Sanctuary. So far it seems similar to a lot of Bethesda games. If you are not much of an explorer or really looking at things you miss the stories between the quests. Like when you go into the vault you find out that one of the scientist didn't make it in. You find his corpse later at the speakeasy and can see what happened to him. There are usually trails of different stories found within their games, some intriguing longer stories and some are just ones to make you smile. I tend to enjoy that sort of thing more than most quests, in any game. I can see why that is not for everyone though. Some would rather have more in depth quests and don't care about the rest of the world.

maybe its empty so modders can make more stuff? Its hard to make games and expensive, makes sense if going forward as a business model they made bigger worlds that were emptier so modders could make the missions and characters in the world. Then the devs dont need to bother with those small details that can bog down production.

That's one of the funniest things I've heard in the last.. well, ever! Thanks, good one :P

Anyway, some say it's empty, devoid of interesting quests, npcs, life and only hordes of enemies (which by itself is not that bad), reminding them of typical fps games.

Some others say it's like FO3, but even better quests, density etc...

Which is the truth damn it - can't test it myself yet -.-

I keep hearing this defense to any criticisms. (Btw, I don't dislike FO4 like some people here).

I don't think it's fair for Bethesda to expect the community to fix the issues, particularly because not all players can access mods.

It IS wasteland... Don't worry though; Elder Scrolls 6 will be here in a year and a half. TES always has a good chunk of interesting locations and towns. :)

In the end i traded the game for something else ,i just couldnt bear anymore.Almost 40 in the game and i just couldnt find an interesting quest to complete, every quest that i encountered requiered me to go to the other side of the map, kill some raiders/mutants or fetch something.

If this game wasn't named Fallout, every review would rate it 6-8 at best.I don't know what the [censored] happened at Beth but this is not a sequel, this feels like an expansion at best, heck even Fallout 3 & NV DLC's are better than this game.

No it won't. The gap between Bethesda games is 3-4 years.

There is no way they will rush a game out, it just is not their design philosophy
