The older games u went into the pipboy and if u had multiple of same item u can repair guns, armor to fix and make stronger. Can u still do that? I tried but couldn't figure it out. Or do u need to use the stations

They don't need repairing anymore I don't think

You don't have to repair armor or guns, just power armor. You can modify it though at workstations etc.
