Pip Boy Edition: Yay or Nay?

Post » Sun Nov 29, 2015 6:19 am

I'll keep try on keep this short.

So basically, I have been given an oppurtunity to get a Pip-Boy edition at it's regular price. At first I was all 'HELL YES' but then I saw some of the unboxings. Honestly, the Pip-Boy itself looks pretty cheaply made. Like a plastic toy or something. I'm aware of how insanly rare these things are and I am a collector but still... I'm not sure I want to pay $150 for something like that.
For those who have gotten the Pip-Boy edition, what's it like? Is it a quality collectors item or a just a plastic novelty? Do you regret buying it? Should I go for it, or just spend my money on something else?

I already own the game btw. If I got this it would be purley for the Pip-Boy.

It is cheap plastic yes, and the entire edition is very poor and empty compared to Skyrim or Fallout 3.

Yeah, the toy is indeed as cheap and hollow as it looks on YouTube. I wish they didn't make it so big and wearable, a higher quality smaller replica would have looked nice along with my Fallout 3 lunchbox. BUT, if you are a collector of the Fallout franchise, you have no choice. Maybe if the game is successful they will do a re-release with some other physical content, like Skyrim's Premium Edition.

I got my Pip Boy edition yesterday and promptly put it up on the shelf without even opening. I had a Steam Code already so no need to open it.

I figured the Pipboy would be like the last one and not fit well around my manly Popeye forearms...... I have that one on my desk so no need to open the one for this game.

It feels kinda flimsy and it is pretty cheaply made. The main body is plastic but it does utilize some metal components to make it feel more industrial. My only problem with mine is 2 seconds after taking it out of the package I pushed one of the button on the pip-boy and it pushed all the way thru, so now my pip-boy is kinda broken - it didnt serve a functional purpose but it just looks bad now. If you got the money to spend and you're a collector go for it, you wont regret it. If you dont really have the cash then you aren't really missing anything either.

Is the pip-boy edition neat? Absolutely. The quality is pretty weak and the overall package is a let down. They should have included some special items (for the game) and at least a season pass. That would have made the whole package completely worth it.

Am I going to wear it? No.

It's going on my shelf with my lunchbox and bobbleheads.

Is it an expensive impractical phone case? Yes.

Is it an awesome gimmick? Yes.
