Bethesda, You Do This Every Game. Fix It!

Post » Sun Nov 29, 2015 2:25 am

It happened in Oblivion, it happened in Skyrim and you still haven't been able to fix the damn item placement in player homes. Is it really that hard?

I spent over two hours collecting cute little ideals like glass bowls and plates. Placed them beautifully in my new house in Diamond City. Went and killed some Super Mutants, came back, and it looked as though Raiders had been in and completely 'effed up all my hard work! Vases and pitchers just bugged between tables and textures, some having fallen through completely. Crap flung about all over the place. Oh, and lighting all bugged out too.

Why implement a mechanic that never works in your games!? It looked so pretty! I was so proud! So much time wasted! Customization is wonderful, and to feel proud of your own home in a game is both immersive and fun but boy, after all this time I would have thought it would be worth my time in Fallout 4...

How naive I was. I could shrug off being unable to place a teddy on my bed but, no. No more. Not this.

Anyone else find this as frustrating as I do?

Somehow I never experienced it without changing iPresentInterval=0. Not once in any of their game, I guess I am just lucky. What is your average FPS?

I have not had this happen yet on PS4 .. chances are it's something to do with your frames and the rendering time of the objects.

Are you on PC?

You try placing everything in the game so it won't tip over, they freeze objects because yes objects collide with tables in games with physics engines and bounce when not placed perfectly and they don't have time to go over every little bottle checking to see if it collides. Seriously would you rather them have no physics engine or items that randomly fly across a room because those are your only options.

Not sure I'd be blaming anyone but myself were I in your shoes.

Yeah Im on PC. Usually around 50-60 fps. It happened when I played Skyrim on the console too though. A recurring problem that surprised me when it showed its ugly head in Fallout 4 too.

I would rather they not implement a feature that never seems to work. That would be nice! Saves me 2 or more hours of my life, not that I can claim them back now. :(

I've never encountered this problem playing since oblivion came out. Not saying this to invalidate your experience, rather I am saying this so that my experience is not invalidated itself. Some people are going to encounter strange bugs in beth's game engines, that doesn't mean every one does or will.

Huh. Thought this had been fixed. I experienced it in Skyrim, but in Fallout 4, all my housing decoration is staying in place when I come back to visit. I set up a little worktable with tools, whiskey, shot glasses, and a fan, etc. Everything was still fine when I came back a couple of game days later.

Try dialing it back to 30 fps and run it in full screen (if you are not already).

Stop whining. This isn't the sims.

For that matter, bethesda put in a lot of time in this game and you complain about nothing more than a petitess.

I will try that. I'm happy knowing this isn't a problem everyone has, and maybe then I can fix it or sort it out some way.

As white knight fan boy as you sound here, my main annoyance with this issue is that it's the same experience I have in every game. And it should really be fixed by now. Its as if they copy paste their whole engine each time and don't bother to comb out the most common and obvious bugs, one that actually holds a lot of appeal to this game. The building and housing was advertised even in their game trailers, something that would capture players to make them want to play the game. Advertising a function that doesn't even work right is, as you might agree, annoying.

Your raging boner for Bethesda is clouding your better judgement. :)
