Settlement HELP

Post » Sun Nov 29, 2015 4:37 am

I don't know if this is a glitch or just how the game is but my scrap doesn't transfer from one settlement to another. for example i want to build at the red rocket station place, but cant get any steel, however at the first settlement i have about 500 steal.

When in the creator mode at the first place i have like 500 steel, but at the red rocket gas station, which is where i want to build, i have like 10 and physically cant get anymore from that place. Is there anyway i can use scrap from one settlement at another?

Is there anyway to use this scrap at the gas station??

What you store at each workshop you will only have access to that storage. I believe it doesn't matter for multiple workshops in one settlement but other wise you need the perk, or walk in there/fast travel to connect multiple settlements.

I dont want to create another topic, so I will use this space to ask: How do I know if theres some job vacant in my setlement? How do I know who is assigned to what?

If you want your junk to be available in all your settlements, you will have to take the "Local Leader" perk (charisma 6?) and set a Supply Line. To set it once you have the perk, go in Workshop Mode (keep V pressed, or activate a workshop) and highlight a settler, you will have the option to make him work the Supply Line. Bam, all your loot is available from both settlements.

Another glaring lack by bethesda that modders will fox. There is no assignment and track assignments UI / tool.

I use a tip some guide i read mentioned - i save a bunch of gear of certain type to denote assigned settlers vs non assigned.

Started with hats but when i started getting settlers that came with hats, started using other adornments. Give to each when you assign, have them equip, and now tell at a glance by adorned vs unadorned, which settlers have no assigned task.

How to know what job, that still svcks so i write down on notepad the name if unique npc, or name plus description if generic settler - like Provisioner, male - fedora hat, red bandanna adornment - supply line to Abernathy

With the pipboy limiting by inherent design how large/complex the display info and UI can get, it will be harder than say for skyrim and skyUI to fix this mess but i'm confident some modder will create an assignments tab to display and possibily even allow changing assignments without settler right in front of you.

Its why i restarted my first run to take char 6 and local leader. With supply lines, sharing all inventory at all settlements is immensely convenient. Without it, you need to hand carry the raw and more frustratingly, figure out which whole part breaks down ingo what and how many, so you can hand carry the right number of them to where you need supplies..

Another thing you can do is interact with the thing that needs staffing. If no one works there the character will verbally say i need to assign someone here. You can also look at the object (for plants) with the edit screen open where it says needs either people or power and if no one is assigned the person icon is in red. Still doesn't tell you who's doing what but you know thats not being worked.
