Wasteland References

It's no secret this is the next installment in the Fallout franchise. There are so many links and references back to the original Fallout universe it is obvious they really did their research for Fallout 3. But I have to tip my hat to Bethesda for going above and beyond.

They didn't just research the Fallout universe, but it seems they went so far as to even research Fallout's ancestry back into the 80's. I am of course referring to the 'Guardian Citadel' from Wasteland, a predecessor of Fallout. Could it be that they carried the name forward to it's current counterpart, the BOS Citadel? ;) Not THATS thorough! :)

So...whats a guy gotta do to get a Meson Cannon and Proton Axe in a weaponry expansion pack for Fallout 3?

I like the Suttle FO1/2 references, I dont mean the big obvious ones like Maxon's Log/Grandchild, but things like "Tales of a Junktown Jerky Vendor" (Shouldnt that increase medicine since I assume Doc Morbid would have to be the one that wrote it... Bobs is in the Hub, not Junktown) and the "Shady-Sands Shuffle".

I think they did a good job in some respects but not so good in others when it came to lore from the previous games

Well, thanks for laying that all out for us burningdragon. You've got me convinced.

I didn't realize there were wasteland references... I'm mighty pleased with just how much they reused from the original Fallout titles though. As far as I'm concerned they shoved as much stuff as they could find room for into Fallout 3 and it payed off in nostalgia for me. They even nailed the random encounters and random locations as far as I'm concerned.
