Allow us to disable snapping and let objects clip together

Post » Sun Nov 29, 2015 4:31 am

A lot of the time you cant place objects due to them clipping on something. Sometimes ive even had it not be able to be placed even though there is literally nothing in the way of me putting it down. Allowing us to clip objects together would allow for a LOT more freedom in the workshop.

Also allow us to disable snapping as more often than not it gets in the way of building.

It has been somewhat frustrating to use. Being as this is very new to them I expect them to make improvements to it, as they did say regular free updates will happen. I also expect mods to run with the settlement feature and people will create crazy things

Agreed these are hugely necessary for the building system to be more useful and easy to use. There are many things I try to do with building that I can't because you can't clipthrough slightly for placement.

Also things should be able to be rotated on all axis's how else can I properly re-roof my houses in sanctuary? They need more building assets too some types are severely lacking.

I have a feeling we will be getting charged for some "Settlement/Building Expansion" in the future.

Yep, snapping is the most frustrating thing.

You can set bWorkshopEnableGridBasedSnapping to 0 (false) or 1 (true) either in the game or in Fallout4.ini. Forgot which.

As designers who are building these worlds and are used to such features as "snapping to Grid" I'm quite surprised the settlement system itself doesn't have one. You can snap to objects, but without snapping to even increments there's no telling if I can properly place a fence around a square foundation for example.
