Is exploration still good?

Reading about how there's no consequences, how the game doesn't change according to your actions, the annoying dialogue system, etc., I'm wondering about exploration as it might be the only thing that saves the game for me.

So, how is the exploration then? Does the game make you want to wander around to find interesting new locations? Has the density made it feel less like exploring when things are close together? Are there still large non-urban areas to explore? Do you still find cool loot or has crafting kinda eliminated that?

well, anyone who actually expects much of a change in the game world is going to be severely disappointing in all Video games, not just this one, it is simply not something that can be successfully done.

There are TONS and TONS of things to explore, there is literally an entire corner of the map (the south west one) that only has you go once for a quest, but has tons of areas you can find and explore

Nope, almost 80% of the locations are pouring with enemies(20-30),the game feels more like Borderlands than a Fallout game.I Discovered almost the whole map and i couldn't find a single interesting location. There are no more interesting places like The Oasis,Tennpeny tower or Vegas Strip ,it's just lacking in severly in this derpartment.

Trust me ,most of the time when you will explore you will find hordes of enemies at almost every location on the map,you will rarely find people to talk beside the Boston city and some small farms here and there.

I just read this thread http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1548616-map-overcramped/which seems to suggest similar things to what you are saying.

Still feels good.

But it takes like half as long to become over-encumbered.

Not like this one dude,In Skyrim you had city after city to visit and numerous villages with some interesting side quests here and there.S

But in Fallout 4 more than 80% are locations filled with 20-30 or more enemies,I thought i was playing Rage or Borderlands for a while, because i just couldn't find an interesting location without fighting my way through waves of ghouls, raiders or mutants.

Fallout 3 had Megatown,Little Lamplight,Tenpenny Tower,Andale,Citadel,Underwolrd,The Oasis,Dave's Republic,Girdersheed and so many more locations with somewhat silly and interesting characters.

I don't even want to mention New Vegas where the map was filled with much more interesting towns and much better characters...Much better than Fallout 3 or 4 by miles

The only decent locations in Fallout 4 are Vault 81,Diamond city,Institute,Brotherhood ship ,Railroad church, and let me tell you ,they are pretty damn small and you get to have almost no interaction with npcs whatsoever.Everything else are just small farm places with no name characters that gives you the usual go kill tons of enemies so they could join the minute man.

The game has far,far ,faaaar less npc's than Fallout 3 or New vegas.
