Can I do anything with this sentry bot?

Post » Sun Nov 29, 2015 7:13 am

I found one in a disposal site and reactivated it, and it's now in patrol mode. Could I maybe hack it with Robotics Expert and bring it with me to help protect my settlement?

There is a terminal in the nearby shed that gives you access to a holotape that lets you control it. Not clear on its complete functionality as I hear it may be bugged. Mine just sat there and shifted only when I reloaded the area, then I used the tape to send it on a pre-determined mission to clear out one of four locations. Now it is not there anymore, presumably at the nearby satellite down the way in order to clear it out. Any insight?

Edit: Realized you said you activated it so you must have known about the terminal already. Sorry for the redundancy.

I must have spent half an hour trying to figure out the point of that bot until dogmeat sniffed out a fat man in one of the cars beside the sentry, I moved on after that lol

There is a broken but functional Power Armor Suit nearby as well, minus the Helmet, arm and leg. Can't miss it by the broken down Vertibird.

The power armour is randomised, I've seen a full set and sometimes an incomplete set. As for the bot, I think you have to have discovered the locations before it will go to them. As it didn't move till I found the satellite station and even then it just say there taking damage from a raider. I'm assuming it's bugged.

I activated the Self Destruct and popped a few shots into it. For some reason the destruct doesn't trigger right away. From the corpse, you can salvage 2 Fusion Cores. I would have preferred him to wander to a location and help clear it, but he never moved after inputting the command, so I gave up. Though I never bothered pulling the Command Holotape, so I suppose that might be the problem.

I sent him to the satellite nearby after discovering it. He didn't move. Saved and reloaded and he was gone. Checked outside station and didn't see him, but I didn't check inside. I wonder if he returns after time has passed, but I will have to check later.

Yeah, problem is he starts off stuck.. So if you boot him up he remains stuck in that same position. If you give him a command to go to the nearby base and then run there, he'll spawn near the base.. but still stuck and un-moving.

To get him to actually move: (at least this is what I did that worked.. probably a shorter easier method somehow.)

Take the tape and put it in your pipboy. Don't activate it.

Run to the the nearby satellite base which is in a different cell.. (effectively despawns/respawns the robot.)

Run back towards the disposal site but do not come into visual range of the robot. There's a fallen log out front, that's a pretty good place to stand and about as close as you want to get.

With your back towards the disposal site. activate the robot using your pipboy.

Give command for robot to head to satellite base.

Run to base.. don't look back until you get to the base.

When you reach the base turn and start running back to the disposal site. You should see the robot attacking some mole rats and moving. He'll get to the base then turn around and head back to the disposal site.. to attack more molerats.

That's all he does that I can tell. Although he might come in handy later to send to other locations.

Here's how I fixed it. I powered up he robot, went to sanctuary and slept an hour and then returned to the robot. He was unstuck and attaking mole rats.

Problem solved. Slept for a day at the Red Rocket, fast traveled back to the disposal site and he has returned with full mobility.
