Minor complaints

Whether or not you enjoy the game, what are some of the minor things you personally dislike or hate about Fallout 4 so far?

Note this thread is not for you to whinge about graphics, story, dialogue, animations, glitches and whatnot. We got enough of those already...

Here are a few of mine

-Raiders and their infinite Molotov and grenades... Seriously wtf!

-BOS needs to learn how to pilot those damn vertibirds instead of crashing constantly

-NPCs don't seem to react or give a damn while being on fire which is something I've disliked since Oblivion

-While I enjoy the blood and gore, I wish it were handled more realistically as whacking someone with a rolling pin should not decapitate them nor should shooting a few rounds in persons arm with a 10mm sever their limbs.

-Enemy AI seems to have improved while companion AI remains as dumb and annoying as ever.

-There is sort of a first person cover system in the game, I only wished it extended to third person as well.

- Game still uses Fo3's old engine. Models lack textures and still stiff and jerky.
- Protagonist's personality is too scripted with no Karma influence.
- No world building; unlike FO3's.
- There were no prewar or prologue quests with spouse.
- Quests are repetitive and shallow fetch quests again.
- Story morality feels too one-sided. No variety in quest objectives.
- Your child's name is locked as "Shaun".
- Not enough background-lore quests or depth unlike New Vegas.
- Main plot felt too linear like FO3's. Alliances don't change the environment post-game.
- Romance means nothing rather than turning a companion into an in-game girl/boy friend.
- Combat Ai is still bad.

  • Can't stand that you can't adjust your player character's voice to reflect your alignment.
  • Facial animations. Sorry, couldn't help it.
  • The noise Dogmeat's feet make.
  • Not enough RP elements for "evil" or "neutral" characters (that I've seen yet).
  • Stupid silly 4th wall-breaking propped up environments (re: teddy bear reading a newspaper on a toilet, really?)
  • Enemy mobs. Dammit, Bethesda. Twitch. Twitch. Twitch.
  • Mob enemies. As in Mobsters.
  • Overuse of the 50's atmosphere, AGAIN.
  • Quests seem mostly of the fetch or "clear the area" variety. Boring & Uninspired.

And oh I'm sure there are a million more to come.

We may not agree on much, sir, but we have found common ground here. It is way too loud, and it is like he is wearing spiked tap shoes or something. Click-clak, Clickety-CLAK, CLAK - CLACK - CLiCK. "Damn it, Dogmeat! I am cutting your nails and forcing you to wear socks!" :nono:

For the longest time (too long, really) I thought there was a molerat trapped in a glitch somewhere. But no. Just dogmeat's feet.

There's a profusion of small annoyances, here it goes:

- The fact we can join seemingly every faction, most of theme with ridiculous ease. The whole point of implementing factions is to play then against each other; to side with a certain faction, the notion falls apart if you can be on all sides.

- Being able to romance everyone, the fact every companion is bisixual and perfectly fine with polygamy is just an indictment of Bethesda bending logic and the gameworld to pander to the player.

- The lack of genuinely unique weapons, with their own aesthetic and story; like those in new Vegas.
- Travis miles, that is all.
- Feral ghouls having the athleticism of usain bolt and the movement of a highly excited electron.

- Lip syncing is awful.

- This one is probably just peculiar to me, but I've always regarded the tallest buildings in Bethesda games to be the apex of height and wonder; we've had the imperial palace, the lucky 38, and the Washington monument. The mass fusion building seems like a glorified raider dungeon, though I'll need to fully explore it to know definitively. As far as I'm concerned if it punctuates the skyline it should also peak the curiosity; and be worthy of such wonderment.

- Being limited to one companion.

I joked to a friend that the protagonist, as a survivor of the pre-war world, found the idea too appalling to even consider.

You do realize we actually enjoy the game right? Well... at least I do!

Just pointing out somethings Bethesda or the modding community could potentially fix.

Able to carry too large a load of equipment even at an average 5 strength.

Otherwise, your list in the OP sums up my minor complaints

Also I wished corpses actually ripped apart when you cannibalize them although that is an incredibly minor complaint for me.

Wouldn't mind more enemy creatures, seen every mob in the game already.

Companions on my [censored] at all times. Constantly blocking my movement, crossing my lanes of fire, bring aggro back to me when I'm trying to stealth out, and commenting on the "junk" I pick up.

Adhesive being a requisite for almost every build, yet finding enough to complete your builds is a pain.

Getting walls, fences, and other homestead items to sit where I want them placed. I have all this scrap... I just want to repair the existing infrastructure.

Finding all my new peeps so I can assign them duties and posts. Ringing a bell does not bring them all to me. Having them wear identifiable clothing doesn't help finding them either.

How many beds do you need to be happy? I have already placed 40 and there are only 20 of you.

Having a nuke fired through a building wall to kill and reward me with the "Touchdown" achievement on X-Box One. I laughed at the achievement, however, the PA raider should have killed himself vice me. I was wearing chameleon armor, using a high powered sniper rifle retooled for .50 cal. The AI was flashing caution and should not have been able to find me let alone kill me.
