governments

What i dont like about the fallout universe is that there are no groups trying to reestablish the US government other than the Enclave who are totally corrupt and sort of misguided. And they fail miserably twice. In fact, there's only like one government that you know of which is the NCR and that's just california. I can understand that DC has no government since people have only been on the surface for like 50 years or something. Lyon's Brotherhood of Steel aren't doing much either. They're just playing hero and killing super muties without actually trying to establish some sort of order or expand and stuff. It's not like you have to equip everyone with power armor and laser rifles. You could prolly mop up a fairly large army with average gear like assault rifles or something and practically rule the wasteland.

Governments aren't going to be governments how you and I see them in real-life. I don't think you're taking into account how hard it would be. I'll admit, though, I wish there were more political figures and whatnot. That would have made for a better storyline in my opinion. I really was never connected with the FO3 one, but that might be because I've never played FO 1 and 2. I'm not sure though...

well since its a made up story, i dont think the difficulty of establishing a government would matter too much. I mean, all you need to do is say over 200 years, a government was established with many obstacles along the way and i wont say how they overcame them. Besides, the NCR popped up without too much trouble. Seems like they wanted a government so Tandi decided to start a republic and voila, its identical to Pre-war america.

This might be because I like order and unity. Mostly order.

You gotta remember that humanity is pretty much starting from the ground up. The USA as you know it is like King Arthur's Camelot: A fantasy time long long ago when everything was "good", but noone is too sure if it really happened anymore.

It still has to move from City State to regional governments, before a continental government can even be considered.

The peoples of North America have been living in cut off communities for a very long time. They owe no alligence to the old US. Most of them dont even know the rest of the country exists.

yea i guess. I'm just thinking that if a new government that is actually strong and capable comes into the battlefield, it would be kinda cool. Doesn't have to be a new US government, i just want a more modernized, as in like the Enclave or Brotherhood of Steel, not like our real world, government that just comes in maybe a sequel or something and is kinda like a surprise to the ppl of the wasteland or something. That's why i sorta liked the Tactics BOS, they were sorta like a strong government who expanded and made a pretty influential and strong faction. I dont really give a damn about morals long as its not totally misguided like the Enclave.

Well, the Midwestern BOS in Tactics was pretty fascist, with their inquisition and interment camps.

I have this belief that civilization and trade go hand in hand, government follows soon after, provided a group of people establishing anything on the frontier have any interest in the frontier.
