No Cursor on screen - tried many solutions nothing worked

Post » Sun Nov 29, 2015 8:14 am

Hello,

Created an account to post this. The issue is pretty much in the title - I have no cursor once my game starts. It's there if I open the menu, but as soon as I go to the active screen, it's gone. I have no controller, have never used it on my computer, so obviously that's not something I can plug in again/unplug.

Thing's I've tried:

Making sure 'controller' is off in the game settings in-game

Unplugging/repluggin in my mouse

Restarting my computer

Finding all Fallout4Pref files (both under my games and under Steam) and setting Gamepad enable to 0

Starting Steam as an adminstrator and verifying the integrity of the game cache

All to no avail. Please advise.

Update: on the advice of a different forum, tried alt + tab out and then back in, nope. No luck.

Also tried replacing the batteries of the mouse.

Also tried: Updating Nvidia driver.

Then pretty much re-tried everything above. Still no luck.

If anyone has any ideas, I would really appreciate it.

Try permanent marker and draw a mouse cursor on the monitor? xD

No sorry i dont know why this would happen.

You using any unknown brand of mouse, or a common one?

Is there a disable/enable hardware cursor setting?

Do you have the Magnifier or pointer trails enabled?

A valid question would be:

Are you using multiple monitors, and/or extended desktop ?

Just tonight I'm getting the same issue - this is after a good 16 hours of gameplay in the past week and a half. When I start up the game, the intro movie starts, and when it says to hit any button to continue, I can do so. Then the menu appears and I have no cursor and I can't even use the arrow keys or the enter key to interact with the menu. The music is playing and the background image is changing, so it's not frozen.

If you have a gamepad plugged in your cursor can disappear.

Even if you don't have a game pad plugged in, there is a "game pad enabled" setting that is turned on by default. Some people have had to turn that setting off to get their mouse to work properly.
