Game destroyed all my savegames

Post » Sun Nov 29, 2015 7:42 pm

I've been waiting for a week now without being able to play Fallout, but the beta patch didn't fix the issue either.

At some point on the way through the main mission, the game decided to get corrupted and that corruption has infected all my save games. I only noticed at a point much later, when all quick- and auto-saves were already overwritten and I decided to reload a quick-save after a failed pickpocket attempt. Now every time I load any of my save games Fallout 4 instantly crashes to desktop. And since I have no backups whatsoever my progress of almost a month now is completely destroyed.

I've uploaded my save files here (in case anyone wants to take a look): http://arstwo.de/fallout/saves.7z

I've run through every option I could come up with, including complete re-install, beta patches and everything else. The game works fine with any other save, but these instantly crash it. And after a month I don't really want to start from scratch again. If anyone has any ideas of what else I could do to fix that, please feel free to suggest it, I am desperate. =(

Hi mate I was able to load your Cambridge save ok, where you're on a rooftop. Your commonwealth save however, the screenshot shows looking at green ground, crashes for me as well.

I was able to load 5 out of the 9? The last save that I was able to load seems to be the Cambridge save. All the manul saves you uploaded seemed to work and load.

THe auto and quick saves don't. That wasn't suprising as this has been an issue from FO3 up through SKyrim. Remember to make new manual saves along the way.

Definitely something in that save, I've never had Fallout crash in over 26 hours until I tried your save lol. Did you use any mods?

OP:

THere are two cambridge saves I loaded. Do those work? Unless you're losing hours IDK. Up to you. At least you'll be able to play at this point.

May take some time for Beth to get patches out. Again if you choose to load those, make new manual saves dont rely on autosaves and quicksave that are being overwritten constantly.

People tend to spam the quicksave.

I could continue from that one although it is quiet a bit behind the last save, but if the game then corrupts the saves again, what do I do then?

From there, you want to make new manual saves. ALong the way. So you hit esc, click save, and select new save. DO this every 5-10 minutes? You can use this in conjunction with quicksaves.

From what I can see, it's mostly quick/autosaves that are corrupting. That isn't uncommon in these games as they are constantly being overwritten. Some people spam quickaves probably abit too much.

Hopefully Beth releases some patches soon!!!

Yea people have been warning about using autosaves since Oblivion. Defo rely on manual (new) saves.
