I am in front of the workshop to craft settlements, and I have no damn idea how to "activate" a selection for example making the beds. Do I need to create material first? How to do that? do I need to clear an area?

Does anyone have a visual/video tutorial on how handle crafting? It was super damn confusing and frustrating trying all the buttons of the keyboard, and the UI isn't clear at all.
