Are you going to limit your character?

Post » Sun Nov 29, 2015 1:22 pm

Will you eventually stop taking more perks and increasing SPECIAL? Or will you go for the max, and have your character perfect in everything?

Me personally, I plan to eventually stop. I plan on hitting that old fashioned, video game milestone of level 100, at which point I will not take any more perks or add SPECIAL points. Now, level 100 might seem awfully high, but with the number of perks and the ranking system, you can run out of points pretty darn fast. Level 100 lets me make a strong build, but I'm still VERY far away from maxing everything. In fact, I barely have enough points to fully synergize my playstyle. My ending SPECIAL will look like this:

S 10

P 7

E 7

C 6

I 9

A 8

L 6

Usually with a new game I'll try to push a max build first, and then start limiting myself on following playthroughs. No idea really how I'm going to build at this point. Kind of just testing the waters and throwing perks wherever right now, haha.

Nah, though there are perks I don't really want so I'll see if I pick them whenever I obtain all the ones I do want

Been looking through the perks and roughly planned a stealthy sniper build that isn't very reliant on having high stats in special. Literally only needs 7 in agility and 8 in perception if you want to specialize more with scopes than vats. It gives you a room to play around with other stas in the beginning without having to worry at all about increasing them any more through out the game. The biggest challenge will be finding the items to help with stealth and sniping.

I only care about getting my focused perks and attributes up to their best or somewhere near that. After that, I'll increase some things like Perception for some better accuracy in VATS and Charisma to touch up on the settlement building a bit more. But besides that, I have no desire to max out things I don't care about. I'll increase my Perception and Charisma, but have no interest in most of their perks. Don't care about Endurance at all or anything involving melee in Strength.

We'll take a look at that bridge when I make a second character, just like to skulk about the game exploring a lot for the moment.

I wont try to max out my character. I have 2 completely different characters next. I'll do what feels right for my character and then move on.

I'll just play until I get bored of the character ans start a new one. That usually happens before I max her out.

*shrug*

do not really know, i just put points into what i need and what my character is using. for example Sneaking? nope, me, nor my character are the sneaking type, so not going to bother unless i have literally nothing else to put something in, which is going to be quite a while.

Lock picking and hacking? well, my character is not a thief or a computer wiz of some kind (my characters backstory is that she went into law with a sense of justice), but learning to lockpick/hack is kind of important both in terms of story tellling (why would you NOT learn in the fallout universe) and in terms of gameplay (both are basically needed, at least up to expert is, IMO)

I am actually going to start over and "RP" the perk selection for my character (female). Every 10 levels (10-50) will be used on Toughness. Will start off more charismatic and intelligent, then add more rifle perks as the game goes on. Simply put, going to perk out as if experience in the wasteland is dictating her "leveling" process.
