For some reason I cant assign certain companions (piper, Preston and now cait) to do jobs at my settlements, originally Preston was fine but then I took him out on a few missions an now he just stands around with his thumb up his butt.

Any ideas?

Yeah I have the same problem. Don't think you can. I just move them all to different settlements to help defend because I don't use them in the game.

Damn that svcks, ah well I guess settler #5 just got promoted to guard.

Make them guards or farmers, they don't do anything else.

That's my problem It wont even give me the option to issue commands, I can talk and travel with them but If I leave them at my base they don't do anything.
