Bethesdas formula is getting stale....

Post » Mon Nov 30, 2015 4:14 am

I know this thread will get closed down by these mods- but it needs to be said- this games formula is beyond stale now. Bethesda needs to come up with a new game engine and a new way of telling a story. The Witcher 3 is GOTY and if they need ideas on how to make an amazing RPG expirience they need to cut the gimmicks like settlements, etc and talk to those devs

-animations are bad

-combat outside of vats is bad

-the world is lifeless - and not just because its after a nuclear war- even the 'big towns' seem dead

-the story has gone to crap since fallout 2

-literally nothing makes sense - for example, how does a vault of 20 people survive for 200 years- seriously? add that to the lifeless complaint

if they arent going to spend time to make a new engine then at least make the one you are using better- so far the only tangible improvement i can see is the lighting- and even that doesnt hide the bad graphics and animation. All they had to do was re-use old textures and objects from the old game and they still couldnt get the story more fleshed out or the world more unique from what they have been releasing for 10 years

seriously guys- you need to call them out on it or they will keep doing it. This game is not NEXT GEN. It could have been done on XB360 and PS3 (sans the lighting)- what the hell are they doing with all the dev time? And why are the mods here so blatantly against any critique? WTF IS GOING ON WITH BETHESDA?

You don't see an improvement in the engine between Fallout 3 & 4? Play some vanilla Fallout 3 and you'll see how incredible they've turned things around. Or Skyrim for that matter.

Combat outside of VATS is the best it has been yet and this time around VATS isn't even really needed since the general gunplay is so good.

It's an amazing game imo, I'm sorry you don't enjoy it like I do.

-animations are awesome (high quality with custom increased range on GTX 770)

-combat is ok, but the AI could perhaps be better because when sniping targets from the top of the highway they can't find the way up there.

-the world is ok

-the story is funny

-it's a game so there can be talking robots etc.

but it still doesn't seem playable because for example fences around settlements are difficult slow to make so it gets boring to do if starting over and it doesn't work because the settlemet size doesn't increase with new settlers ariving, so it just don't work.

Some stuff is difficult slow for example equiping all settlers with weapons; but the "store all junk" button is ok.

Setting up supply lines without a brahmin is possible, so where does the settler get it? Incoherent ..

The game is a perfect beta version

But you can pick up trashcans and other useless objects! What about my pointless interactivity?!

I would be fine with it all if they hadn't put themselves in direct competition with other open-world games with light RPG elements such as Dying Light, Far Cry 4 and so on, but they absolutely did by butchering any depth and RPG elements from this game, and I'm afraid Fallout 4 pales in almost every aspect to games like Dying Light and Far Cry 4.

Now you'll deal with the audience you were so desperate to entice, Bethesda.. and they are not an easy to please or forgiving bunch.

how exactly does having a graphics card like that change the animation? that makes no sense

as for the robots being in the universe because its a 'Game' - thats totally fine. And it has nothing to do with any of the points i made

the fence issue in settlements makes sense - but the entire 'build a settlement' thing is a gimmick. And it seems they spent a majority of their time during dev on that

These guys are getting too lazy or have bled too much talent- my proof is the fact that this is a very light RPG with some serious flaws. It cant be a beta because they have essentially been releasing the same game for 10 years - so what exactly are they beta testing? The game clearly hasent changed graphically - all they do is copy and paste the stuff they made before into new games. So why not spend the time fleshing out the story and fixing some of the same problems that crop up over and over again? The game literally has no depth and keeps getting shallower? WTF IS UP WITH THAT

When starting Fallout 4 (changing face and body) it's immediately present that the graphics are very much better than in previous version. Anyway the colors only have to separate the figures meaning they are only bad if you can't see the differences. For example if you play chess and the figure of the Bishop and the queen is not very unlike, it's bad.

After seeing "junk fences" in construction it seemed like the only way to defend a settlement with a few turrets. But after building it the settlement size limit halt further construction. And it does not increase with new settlers. And the junk gate can't be barred with a settler assigned to it, so what's the point? Stopped playing after that, because it seemed stupid if it's necessary to install a mod to play the game, and it seems terrible boring to start over and try building a smaller fence around because of that size limit. And it also seemed boring to repeat the process of equipping all the settlers with weapons again.
