With Cait it did, might depend where you are in how much they like you. They seem to talk to you 4 times I think before their maxed.
Personally my guy has barely any charisma so I reloaded just before and popped some graqe mentats which give 5 charisma then talked to her. Rather disappointed that it seems the only way to romance is through charisma related talking.
Ive only tried with Cait though.
I doubt it. Piper turned my flirtation attempts down twice cause I didn't have a high enough charisma score and it hasn't come up since. :/
I've got Curie to max rank, but she turned down my "Romance" proposal.. Hope she will reconsider it. lol
So it's purely based on CHR ? They don't even have to like you ?
They have to become friends with you through the approval system and then you can try to persuade them into a romance. Its quite subtle and fits the character arcs quite well.
So they do have to like you too, in addition to having enough points into CHR. Makes more sense. I personally don't care, was just curious.
Cait's romance option came up about 4 times after she declined me each time, even with higher Charisma. Not sure if this is limited or not. But there seems to be some time required between attempts.
Put on a suit/dress, some cool glasses and a hat all with Charisma bonus and then talk to them. Should help you alot with convincing them.
I keep reading about this and it really bothers me. I've started the game with a 4 CHR, and due to many failed attempts to just persuade during dialog I've raised it to a 5. I also have two points in Lady Killer now.
The idea that I have to dress up like a clown to go through these romance dialogs is a little absurd. Other RPG's it's the NPC's storyline and dialog you choose that move the romance along, not your characters CHR. I have no problem with CHR being used for other dialog, but romance dialog shouldn't be on the same system and that should be more based on your dialog choices and actions.
I get that this is what FO4 is doing, it's just that I've never played a game that depended on CHR for romance before. I hate feeling like I have to now factor that in while designing my character.
Hey, when your CHA is 1 then it's normal you will have problems
You can be the best, nicest person to a woman ever but if you smell, lack teeth, have serious problems with hygiene and do nasty stuff then she won't be with you (unless she's also the same )
People have this strange self thinking that they consider their character still average/good looking even when they dump CHA to 1 .
For my high CHA char women in game often comment positively about being handsome and so on so it defo affects it. You can spend an all nighter with the woman in red dress in good neighbourhood's Third Rail if you have high CHA (i had 14 and last flirt check was still red but succeeded)
Well, human beings are shallow. I don't see that changing, not even in an post-apolocalypse.
Slightly unrelated, but is it even worth having a romance?
