Mr Sandman + Ninja scaling

Post » Sun Nov 29, 2015 5:26 pm

Hey guys, does anyone know how Mr. Sandman and Ninja scale?

Right now I got Ninja 2 (3x sneak damage instead of 2x) and Mr. Sandman 1 (15% bonus damage on silenced sneak attacks) and when performing a sneak attack with my silenced sniper rifle it says 3.4x damage. When adding another rank to Mr. Sandman (raising the bonus damage to 30%), the game says 3.6x damage.

Now let's calculate:

(1) If Mr Sandman would affect the Ninja Bonus as well, the calculation would be 3*1.15 = 3.45, if it would only affect the base sneak bonus ist would be 3+(2*0.15) = 3.3.

(2) When putting another point in Mr. Sandman, the calculations would be 3*1.3 = 3.9 and 3+(2*0,3) ) 3.6.

While the calculations of (2) compared to the ingame damage notifications would prove the Mr. Sandman perk only affectiong the base bonus damage, the calculations in (1) both do not match the ingame information.

Anybody got a solution? Thanks in advance!

Do you have any sort of crit multiplier on your sniper rifle?

I wouldn't be surprised it they were additive instead of multiplicative. It sounds to me that it's adding the damage to the base weapon and then adding tthe Ninja bonus. I don't recall seeing anything in the perk description that says they multiply together. Mister Sandman does say your silenced WEAPON does extra sneak attack damage, not your entire attack.

I remember had something similar come up in another Bethesda game (Pretty sure it was something in Skyrim), asked about it and it was indeed additive so possibly the same with this as well.

P.S Do not worry about numbers too much, I heard If you have both of those perks, you will be killing most things with 1 sneak attack mid - late game.

If it's additive, the 3.4x would be an interface bug as it's only 3.3. But good to know, thx. :)

And yes, I got a better critical damage via receiver, but sneak attack and crit is two different things afaik.

It's either a display bug or a bug with the damage scaling. I have heard people saying that if the damage bonus from the lone wanderer perk raises your total bonus above 125%, it will loop back to zero. So someone with 135% bonus damage would actually only have 10% bonus damage. This issue seems a lot smaller.

Nope, they're not. They're counted as criticals for all applicable perks and the counter within your stats record. That explains where you got the extra 10%, probs.

If that's so, why don't I get an extra 10% with 2 points in Mr. Sandman but with 1 point? I should be getting 3.7x with 2 points but only get 3.6x. oO
