As my name suggests, I'm trying to locate my one time friend Nick Valentine. He was my companion for a short time before I swapped back to Dogmeat however he's not at any of the settlements, his office, piper's office, or the memory place (last time I saw him). I've built a bell at every settlement that I'm able to and have not only rang it but also searched and have yet to see him. I've done this about 3 times so far and still nothing. I'm on PS4 so none of those PC options will work unfortunately.

I'm just surprised they didn't think of adding a simple tab in the pip boy related to companions - click on one and it instantly highlights them on the map.

I'm having the same problem with Dogmeat, I sent him home but now sevral game days later I still cant find him have looked everywhere???

I don't know about Valentine but dogmeat is in a dog house, behind the first house on the right, coming into sanctuary from the bridge.

Maybe they were killed on the way home and their bodies are laying somewhere?

From what I've read, Nick has a habit of popping up in random places... but it sounds like you've searched all of those. It may be one of those things where you will just come across him randomly as you continue on.

I have read that if you don't dismiss them and send them to a settlement, they are supposed to return to where they were originally from - ala Diamond city. So if you picked up dogmeat while still having Nick, chances are that he is -somewhere- in Diamond city. If not, depending on where you were at the time (and how long ago this was) all this went down, he may still be in route to whatever settlement you sent him to. From what I've seen/experience, they actually walk back to these locations... not instant transport.

That me be totally wrong, but I can tell you that I send dog back to Sanctuary from Diamond city and actually encountered him on the road along the way when heading back myself.

I don't think companions can die.

Companions disappearing has been reported numerous times since this game's release, almost every day in fact. It seems to be a widespread bug.

If I remember right didn't they put a terminal at the gun shop for fallout NV to make lost companions re-appear?

On pc it's easy.

Nick has a habit of doing that. I tend to always find him at the next story mission if he's involved. He did it to me every time I dismissed him when doing the diamond city portion of the main quest.

Did you send him to the Airport? When I sent my companions there they always end up stuck behind the inaccessible doors by The workbench.

Unless they are bugged in another way, finding companions that are merely harder to look for because of settlement size is made lot easier by making the cow / dinner bell item.

Go to settlement you think companion is at, ring bell and wait 10-20 sec depending size and which settlement. If companion does not wander over, then he\she is not present at that settlement.

More expensive version but if you made them anyways as part of settlement defense, just click the alert siren. All settlers and companions parked at that loc will come running to siren location

When you dismiss them, don't you tell them where to go?

I was afraid this would be the answer. What a piece of [censored] nonsense. How are you supposed to remember where you send 8 or more companions? There should be a buddy marker option in the map otherwise you'll spend half your game time searching for a buddy.

well nick should still be in his office in diamond city but that's is DEFAULT home he might be there or wherever you dismissed him to.

if he was told to wait when you were in the commonwealth together then i don't know what you can do.

he lives in sanctuary hills for me always somehow finding a way to teleport to the damned roof of my house!

i'm a level 48 btw xbox one.

Dogmeat showed up in the dog house mentioned above although the house is no longer there (scraqed) the dog house is (cant move or scrap it)

He goes places for quests sometimes. I just met back up with him in goodneighbor at the memory place. It helps when they have a quest going that you can click on to lead you to them. I was actually going to do the Piper quest. The marker led me to her house, then it led me to valentines and they were there together. It defaulted to continuing i think the main quest and i chose to take her and meet him there.

Lost him too, sigh...

Sometimes he shows back up at the Red Rocket gas station where you first find him.

I send all my companions to my base at Red Rocket. I had Piper and switched to Valentine, for a mission. I sent her to red Rocket and it was taking forever for her to arrive there. I slept for 24hrs and BAM...she was there.
