FO4 Dead is Dead Thread Number One

Post » Mon Nov 30, 2015 2:30 am

Allow me to be the first Dead is Dead 'participant' for Fallout 4. My first character has met an untimely demise: Dierdre Summers, Level 14. Killed somewhere over toward the eastern shore line, sprinting to evade raiders or something and ran smack into a PACK of blood bug things. This was on EASY!

If anyone is finding the game "too hard," go ahead and turn it down to Easy, it is still plenty challenging to me!

Will post some screenies of her in a bit. Happy with this first playthrough. I had imagined maybe "finishing" the game with my first character but that is clearly not happening. Learned a lot, and will do a few things differently with Number 2. Not even dreading redoing some of these early game quests :)

I'll do a dead is dead on my second playthrough.... If I did it on my first one, then it would of been to a pack of surprise blood bugs while I was checking a tent near vault 111 seconds after I emerged. wasn't expecting that and I'm on whatever the default playthrough difficulty is because I didn't change anything when I started.

Well I've died most from stepping on mines and grenades lol.

Made it through the museum and back to town. On the way to my first minuteman mission, bam stepped on a landmine at the drive inn. I saw it too, thought I could sneak up to it and disarm it. Thats what sneak skill is for.

If I played Dead is Dead style, I would have had to make a new character right after I returned to Sanctuary and cleared the area together with Codsworth, as when I faced one of those bloatflies and engaged it in VATS, I was catapulted into the air and died when hitting the ground.

As long as such glitches exist, I'll certainly not do it.

I will be suitable impressed when someone does a DID character on survival mode without using VATS. :D

I don't see a 'You Only Live Once' play-through being viable,

even on easy.

Glitches I feel are a justifed exception. For me it is not a "moral imperative" so much as some sort of strange neurosis. Perhaps it is actually "Restartis" in disguise?

Once my character has died a death that was not due to an in-game glitch, else some "out of game" mishap (car backfire causes the cat to jump on my keyboard at the perfectly wrong moment), I just somehow lose interest in them. It loses its feeling of "epicness" or something.

I have yet to this day, to EVER manage to get through a complete playthrough of any Bethesda games Fully Dead is Dead, and perhaps I shall accomplish it with FO4!! HUZZAH!
