any point in armour? (spoiler free)

Post » Sun Nov 29, 2015 1:59 pm

Hi guys. Just wanted to know if people are bothering with armour.i was using metal armor over army fatigues as I liked the look but if you are in power armor when you fight what does it matter what you have on underneath. I have started using a suit underneath for the Charisma instead.

Also is there any on going out fighting without power armor?

Yes because the best armor gives you stats boosts. Like more AP or an extra point in a certain area

I do most of my stuff without Power Armor. I don't have the required perks to make any of the mods for it.

Only time I use power armor is when I come across a place where I get slaughtered by over a couple dozen Super Mutants. I'll go back get my armor and then tell them to bring it on

I've only used power armor a little bit myself, usually for extremely tough encounters, which I've only had a problem with twice so far. I use the Silver Shroud armor, which is light and gives a couple of stat boosts (and can be upgraded for more defense later), and focused on getting Toughness and Refractor so I wasn't a glass cannon.

I put my Power Armor in the carport in Sanctuary. Tried to put it on the rack thing but could not figure it out. But I did take out the Fusion Core.

I may never go back and get it again.

To put it on the rack, simply exit it near the power armor station and then hit craft on the station, should snap to the correct spot.

If you're using Power Armor, then no, there is no point in wearing Armor underneath it. Better to just wear a full Charisma outfit. When you need the extra Charisma, just get out of your suit.

If, on the other hand, you're fighting without Power Armor a lot, then yes, there is a point to armor.

Since fusion cores are supposedlynot plentiful, I only used mine once. As a result I have over 10 fusion cores. I am waiting for that big fight when I get my ass kicked. That has not happened yet. I did the flame paint job on it though that improves damage resistance just in case.

I'm level 25 and so far, only used power armor 2 times. I have good weapons and don't rush into unknown surroundings. I also armor up my companion.

Currently sitting on 30 Fusion cores.

They're plentiful. They're plenty plentiful. I'm absolutely stocked with 100/100 FCs. Granted I like, never use power armor.

I don't like using the power armor too much, as it tends to make things a little too easy. So far, I've actually only used power armor when I've found a new set. I'll climb into it, finish whatever quest I was doing then take it back to Sanctuary to sit indefinitely.

So yeah, armor is pretty darn useful for me, since enemies do quite a lot of damage. If you're always in power armor, though, there's no real need for armor at all, which is actually another part of why I don't like using it.

Flame painting increases Agility, not Damage Resist.

As for cores, they're best categorized as Uncommon: not common enough that you're tripping over them every time you open a box, but not rare enough that you only find them in specific locations.

Agreed on this. More to the point is that the resource isn't "finite" as some people say, you can buy as many of them as you like, traders may only have a limited stock but just go shop hopping I guess? Caps aren't finite either.

Armor is great, especially for getting various stat boosts or damage resistances. I'm running around in an undershirt & jeans with some leather and metal on my legs for the look, but the extra DR I get from those alone as well as the +25% resistence to Super Mutant attacks and +50% resistance to Ghoul attacks is really handy, especially since both are bullet sponges and can dish out a fairly large amount of damage.

As for Power Armor, I had to use it in the Minuteman HQ quest for the boss there, the boss in Hard+ modes can kill a level 30 player with a single attack, said attack is a poison and drains more health than food/stimpacks can heal and ignores your armor's DR.

PA is overpowered as hell. Only reason I don't use it is because unarmed weapons don't work with it. But other than unarmed theres no reason not to. So OP.
