How to get good armor that also looks good?

Post » Sun Nov 29, 2015 7:54 pm

Hey guys,

So I've seen a lot of videos of players lower leveled than me and heard from friends as well - every character I've seen looks pretty cool. My main strategy for gearing my armor is just to have a balanced defensive setup. I'm not sneaky or anything, I'm mostly perking through perception. However with that said, I'm level 24 and I still have my Vault 111 suit...I just haven't found a suit that goes under armor that's better than my vault 111 stuff! I literally don't have a pattern of armor or anything going on like I've seen in videos. Do you guys base your armor off of how it looks or do you just put the better armor on?

I found myself some clean military fatigues and a army helmet, with this I use combat armour with military paint to give my character this pre war soldier look.

the reason for this armour set is because my power armour also has a full green military look.

try a bomber jacket and if you are on pc you can even add the bomber jacket armor mod

but you should find out yourself since there is a big variation in clothing and armor.

I grabbed the http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/fallout.gamepedia.com/0/0f/Fo4_Armor_236.png off one I killed. Also had all of it's armor and chest piece that I put on top of army fatigues. Looks great

The Silver Shroud Armor. Looks good and is pretty armored except for radiation.

The Minutemen General outfit is pretty good, especially if you get it early, and imo it's the coolest looking outfit I found. The Silver Shroud costume is pretty good too, and if you manage to save Kent during the Silver Shroud quest he has 3 upgrades for it (at levels 25, 35 and 45) which bring it up to pretty high stats. I'm level 39 on my highest file right now, so I'm on the 2nd upgrade and it has 70 defense for ballistic and energy, whcih is better than any piece by piece armor set I can get (though my armorer perk is low so you can probably build better if you maxed that).

As for underarmor garments though, pretty sure the vault suit is the best since it's the only one you can upgrade afaik, to give it more rad or energy defense. Underarmor stats are so low they're basically irrelevant on your total anyway.

Ive been using the Drifter Outfit with some of the toughness perks. Its not exactly armour, its mostly fancy clothes, but with the toughness perks and normal difficulty im able to have a lot of fun. It also helps that the Commonwealth seems like a cold and rainy place sometimes and having a good coat on you sounds like a good idea.

A mix and match of performance and looks for me. I try to find the best possible gear I can get my hands on, that still suits my characters persona / looks. I am also willing to sacrifice wearing a decent piece of armour on my character if it looks absolutely horrible on him so yeah.

Doing real nice regardless of never going for the BIS [censored] or running around as a tin man.

I found that Road Leathers goes well with Leather Armour and Military Fatigues goes well with Combat Armour. The only armours I've found so far are Leather, Raider, Metal and basic Combat Armour. For power armours I've found T45, T51 and Raider.
