Shotspotting...

Post » Sun Nov 29, 2015 11:42 pm

As it stands, if I fire an unsuppressed weapon, the enemy instantly tracks to my location. Doesn't matter how well I'm hiding, they know where I am and generally shoot back (with far better accuracy I might add).

This needs to be resolved.

As someone who's been shot at, and been around people shooting guns off... it's incredibly difficult to locate the exact position of a shooter who is concealed. Generally muzzle flash or other visual clues give the shooter away. In the game, the simple firing of the gun (say shooting at a group of 5 guys without hitting them) causes them all to aggro.

I can't imagine you guys aren't annoyed by this.

A-[censored]in-greed good sir, it's way too auto-detect for me.

Give me some panic for the first few shots, scattering to cover. These AI are too damn (unrealistically) good at spotting where gunfire is coming from.

Why do some people quote the entire original post when they're among the first few replies?

If you sneak while you shoot you will most likely get sneak attack and they won't see you.

You got 3 stages while sneaking as you know, "hidden", "caution" whoich means they are looking but don't know where you are and "danger" where they know where you are. But you can sneak out of it if you position yourself in a good spot.

Good question!

Sneaking does nothing for me. I usually sneak attack every one I shoot at. But after that first shot they know where you are.

...then use suppressed weapons...thats why they added the mod to the game.

Maybe you should invest a point or two into sneaking then? So far I've only invested 1 rank in Sneaking but it seem to do a difference!

Heck having a high agility is enough sometimes, I haven't used a suppressed gun yet but my high agility character could pop a guy, get caution then fall back to get hidden again. Never did a full stealth kill run of a,place, but hey, that's what the suppressor mod is for.

Yeah for sure. I have high agility and invested one rank in sneak and I did the water pruification plant almost 100% stealthy. Had one of the dogs and one super mutant that hides in a shack next to the entrance come at me. The rest I could snipe easily.

According to my own experience it seems like 1-shotting the enemies have a higher chance of going un-noticed so the ninja perk is a good choice to invest in.

That's not the point of my post. The point is that they instantly pinpoint you and shouldn't.

I even tried being sneaky and shooting once... moved quite a ways away and shot again. Moved again behind terrain and sometimes they'll still track out of sight. Sometimes they'll shoot where they last had you. But they always see you. I'll try the point into sneaking but it'll be about three or four levels before I can spare the point. Trying to get to the Gun Nut level to mod suppressors.

The alternative is buying a gun with a suppressor and stripping it off.

I don't know what you guys mean by auto detect, that tends to only happen when I don't OHKO someone. And I generally run around in power armor for 90% of the time, so I'm not exactly the sneakiest brick around :P

Maybe it's just my playstyle though. I usually already have figured out where the 2nd guy I want to shoot is and unload on him by the time the first body hits the ground
