Stuck minimized

I am having serious issues getting fallout 4 to launch. When I try to launch it in fullscreen, it crashes immediately. When I try to launch it in windowed mode, or windowed borderless mode, I cannot get it to maximize. I can see it in the taskbar, and when I hover over it with my mouse, The image if the game is there. If I have it selected, i can navigate through menus and move with my keyboard, but the game is unplayable. So far, what I have tried to do is: validate game cache, reinstall the game, opt in to the beta, update all of my drivers, run as administrator, change compatibility, and upgrade from windows 8.1 to windows 10. None of these have worked, Please help me, I really want to play this game.

I had the same problem. Go to %USERPROFILE%\Documents\my games\Fallout4 open Fallout4Prefs.ini and look for bTopMostWindow=0 and bMaximizeWindow=0 under [Display] and change them both to 1. Should work. You can also get the Fallout 4 configuration tool from Nexus mods, which does this automatically if you enable borderless window in it. It also makes the ini-files read only, so the game launcher doesn't change the settings back.
