Cait's accent.

Why does Cait have an irish accent? You the accent of the people you learn to talk from. Seems unlikely that any irish immigrants are coming to the US at this point.

Thought there were loads of Irish immigrants at USA already. So i dont think there needs to be new immigrants coming after the events, she could very well be from an Irish family.

That is not an Irish accent. I want to slap Beth for thinking it was.

Is she Scottish? I'm English and recognised her accent as Irish.

However, it doesn't matter. I love Caits accent. Her one liners are funny.

'Better than standing 'ere with me thumb up me [censored].' :D lol

You don't inherit accents though and its been 200 years since the war. Unless her ancestors all the way up to her parents lived in an Irish vault I don't understand how she would have acquired an Irish accent.

The voice actress is of Irish descent, but raised in Glasgow, Scotland. The accent is from Dublin i believe, and i think its spot on actually. Also the Irish accent is ofc because Boston was one of the East Coast Cities that took in alot of Irish way back when we had famine in Europe. It stands to reason that someone would survive and carry that on into the future. If you can't believe that we have to ask why James had an English accent in Fallout 3? Or Melissa from the Khans had an Australian accent in New Vegas.

That depends on the family really even when there arent any other people around that use a similar accent if the family has traditions and such children tend to pick up the accent.

Voice actress is Scottish, although the part of Scotland referenced is Glasgow, so it could be anyone's guess.

James's accent was Irish as well, actually.

That explains a lot. I knew the Irish accent was there, but I could also hear twangs of a Scottish accent. Cait is a really fun character I think.

Don't try to find explanation for this, It is just there for variation.

They gave her accent to make here more interesting, without taking into consideration whether It was logical or not.

Every vault had some kind of twisted evil social experiment behind It, and putting bunch of irish People in one does absolutely nothing.

No reason to think anyone would keep an accent after 200 years of complete anarchy, they couldn't even rebuild brick houses... In this universe everything went backwards to stone age.

I had the option to flirt with her after she bared her soul to me. I chose not to persue it because I can't stand a strong accent on a woman. I'm not hitting on Piper either (but not for the same reasons) so something else had better come along soon!

Cait's all mine. There's nothing quite like a sixy Scottish accent. When spoken properly and no slang that is.

There's also a pair of Russian brothers in Diamond City and I kept wonder how on earth they kept that accent SO THICK when there shouldn't have been anyone coming over from Russia in a very long time.

I agree the very unique accents (whether they are good accents or not) just really stand out and don't belong in the game. The sole exceptions would be robots made pre-war and ghouls from pre-war.

Colin Moriarty came to the DC area from presumably Ireland as a child, Allistair Tenpenny came from England. It's not too much of a stretch to assume Cait's parents came from Ireland as well. If they did, they would probably have an Irish accent which Cait copied growing up. I don't see the problem. :)

Maybe Cait was raised by Irish Ghouls?

Pretty much this. According to Emil P. (one of these days I'll learn how to spell his last name) Europe is a lot worse off than America, so people from post-apocalyptic Europe travel to post-apocalyptic America hoping for the best. Not just England and Ireland either, Russia as well (Dukov, and I think those two bartenders in Diamond City are supposed to be Russian too).

Yeah I was going to say, Fallout 3 confirmed the fact there is at least some limited trans-Atlantic travel going on.

Being the son of an irishman, it's not even a good one lol, New Vegas had this with Meliissa i think, having an aussie accent, it is a bit strange, but it does add variety, i just think they could of got a real irish female to do it.

You never really got a guy from Limerick and a fellow from Cork in the same room for enough hours I see. If there'd be a chance for them to study infighting, having an all-Irish Vault might be the best bet actually.
