CK Release NOW please

Post » Mon Nov 30, 2015 7:12 am

So, many of us have figured out that the game is pretty much unstable, bugged, and for many, simply unplayable. Within a day of release, modders were already working to do what they could with the game even without the CK. Updates from Bethesda? Patches? Hotfixes? None yet that I know of, but, they don't want to release the CK until NEXT YEAR?

Why? Really... why? Does Bethesda truly want players to spend MONTHS fighting these bugs and problems before giving the modders a chance to fix their garbage? If we can't play the game for a few hours without getting bug rage, what makes Bethesda think we'll put up with it for MONTHS?

Be smart, Howard... release it NOW. Apologize for the garbage you released and give the modders a chance to fix it so people can actually enjoy the game.

There does need to be a bug fix patch or ck asap... but it's not unplayable. Especially compared to 3's release.

My main problems are some wonky design.

First thing I want - a keychain, and a password codebook. Stop filling up my Inv > Misc with all these defunct listings I can't hide or remove. It makes searching for inventory holotapes a real pain in the ass.

Second thing - all workshops connected as soon as one gets Local Leader 1. (That's more a convenience thing.)

Third, double perks (or alternative ways to acquire). Was nearly Level 40 before I spent a single perk that wasn't crafting/settlement related...

Some mods are already out, you just have to wiggle things a bit to get them working as the launcher doesn't support it yet. And of course, without the GECK a lot of stuff is less accessible... but still possible.

Consider devs never set dates on a whim, the GECK is most likely not ready for public use, so releasing it now would mean a rush job that might, ironically mean the GECK itself would be a buggy mess.

@Toast317

Actually, it pretty much is unplayable as it sits for me. I have a middle of the road rig. I can play on high settings (a few tweaked to medium) without a problem until I get indoors then it is lag city. I can change screen resolution, lower settings to low, and still lag to the point that playing indoor areas is UNPLAYABLE. The MAIN problem? shadows. In Skyrim and FNV, you could remove them totally freeing up the GPU to render other things. I smoothed out BOTH games to flawless gameplay by simply removing shadow rendering totally. In Fallout 4? No can do as it sits. You get shadows if you want them or not. And not JUST shadows, but, flickering shadows... the kind that give me headaches and make me want to puke my guts over my keyboard.

So yes, as the game sits, it's unplayable without popping headache pills, Dramamine, and limiting myself to an hour or two before nausea sets in. That doesn't even TOUCH the bugs, crashes, settlement problems with mob spawning, and the list of the problems that could be fixed by releasing the CK early.

As it sits, I can run around the countryside killing things. Scrap what I find to build my base (which is pretty much done). And that's it.

Yep... fun times for me.
