[REQ] Re-opening the Lucky 38

Post » Sun Jun 06, 2010 12:39 am

Living in the Lucky 38 is pretty sweet, but due to it being so empty and lifeless, it lacks that certain flair that was had by say, having a suite in Tennpenny Tower; which was brimming with life. I'd like to see somebody bring the Lucky 38 to life. However, I wouldn't like to go against the game's lore. Maybe after doing several missions for Mr. House, one of your dialogue options could be a barter check convincing him to open the Lucky 38 back up (Could be lower if Yes Man is in control) House/Yes Man will ask you for an investment of 15,000 caps to pay for all of the renovation and hiring expenses and will offer a 15% (20% with barter check) cut of all the profits at the end of each week. I do not know how hard all of this would be to do, but I'd love to see it happen.

I -did- just spot, on the Nexus, a mod which brought the Lucky 38 to life in a slightly different way... operated instead by robots controlled by Mr. House.

Of course, I don't think you collected any of the profits, what with you -still- being the only person in it gambling, I think... but I could be wrong. Personally, I really like your idea. I can only hope someone creative spots this and thinks something similar.

Do you have a link to the mod? I'd like to try it out. But if my character is the only person who gambles in it (Kinda like Vicky & Vance) that is kinda lame.

That's the one.

It's pretty limited at the moment, as far as I can tell, but who knows... if you're the ambitious sort, maybe you'll just make some NPC's of your own to wander around in the lobby, drinking and gambling and such.

Or maybe you'd just like to wait, as I shall, for a mod that let's you OWN and OPERATE a casino! No cuts of the profit... I want the -whole- damn profit, minus paychecks to the hired help.

It'd be especially awesome if, as time progressed and your funds increased, you could upgrade your own personal casino to rival the likes of the Ultra Lux.

It'd go from run-down hellhole to 'the' place to be.

I mention this here because the Lucky 38 seems as good as any a place to start, what with being empty!

If such a mod is made, then surely there should be an option for those of us who just

killed the smug bastard.

That would be good, and the Lucky 38 can be made to work into whichever MQ quest direction you went, I think?

Also, for lore sake, maybe remove all dialogue about the casino not being open once you do get the casino back open =D

Yes Man.

For simplicity sake, and to avoid as much silent dialog from established characters as possible, I've just added a "Mainframe Terminal" to the safe-room behind the counters in the Lucky 38, with a very quick quest to reconnect the power supply to start the questline. The Mainframe is giving the first few quests until new characters are introduced.

If you need some voice talent for the mod to work, I'm sure there are folks around the forums who would be more than happy to try their hands at voicing some folks.

Personally, I would -love- to. If only my microphone worked. -_-;'

Damn cat chewed through the cables of my headset.
