The first quest in the dugout of diamond city is to find a guy who has gone missing. I got his house key and the quest marker leads me to his door. The narrative says to search his home for clues. When I step in his house the quest marker points back to the door I just entered. i looted /searched everythign in the house. I have gone back over 3 days and searched again without luck. A bug or I am doing something wrong?

There is solution for this on YouTube. I would post exactly where to look, but am do not want to post spoilers. BTW, it is very easy to miss.
