Where is the humor? Favorite bits found?

Robots wearing hats. It's stupid, but it always makes me laugh.

The Sarcasm option is a nonstop stream of humor.

I was traveling with Piper and took the wrong step off a ledge at the library. I landed with a thud and Piper says "Testing gravity?". I LOL'd, which was odd in the house since I was wearing headphones and no one else in the house knew why.

I lol'd at the General Atomics Galleria. The product presentation was hilarious and the director's voice makes me laugh every time I hear him. I just enjoy the Mr. Handy type robots in general. I also enjoyed finding a Super Mutant's 'orders' that went something like: loot, kill, go home.

I'm happy that I haven't found any offensive humor in the game. Humor shouldn't punch down as it's not funny. I don't necessarily find sixual humor offensive but I've yet to find any in the game that stands out. All in all, I've enjoyed some of the sillier bits and I think they struck a nice balance of being tasteful and not too juvenile.

It's the same way they make tasteless apples. They figure they make more profit making a bland product that everyone will consume inoffensively, than making a product with specific appeal that will turn some people off.

Yes, the sixual references are absolutely gone! What good does a lady killer / black widow perk when you can't flirt your way out of everything?

Well, it is good for a significant damage increase against one gender or the other, and it makes your Intimidation perk attempts and dialogue persuasions much more likely to succeed with the opposite gender. So rather than just certain checks every now and then, it gives you a bonus to every dialogue attempt. I like to think it is because my character is such a ravishing beautiful she puts a little spell over on the NPCs.

As for there being no humor in Fallout 4 - we must be playing different games. I've run into LOTS. At least as much as in previous Fallouts.

The Silver Shroud questline:

Spoiler
Running around spouting super hero lines in costume, and seeing your character get in too deep and have to struggle to finish a sentence? That's hilarious. "He will NOT escape the RIGHTEOUS justice ... of .... justice?" All the terminals in Hubris comics are filled with jokes and comic book nerd references too. And you can run around with an ax dressed like Grognak the Barbarian! Come on!

A certain beverage robot:

Spoiler
Buddy, the beer-dispensing robot? Who tells jokes? Bad ones? "The bartender says, 'We don't serve faster than light here.' A tachion walks into a bar in a hurry." Haha.

That's not counting all the environmental storytelling and gags. There is a hilarious scene near the Beantown Brewery with about 6 Portable Fallout Shelters surrounding a claw vending machine - all the skeletons are arranged around the dispenser, and no one is in the shelters. The dispenser has one good item left, and the claw can never pick it up. It always slips off. So here was group of people trying to grab food to take into the shelters with them, and they were stuck watching a claw fail to pick up food right up until the bombs fell. That is some Top Notch Black Humor right there.

Silver Shroud, USS Constitution, Codsworth, Brew quest, some random vendors and npc's. There is alot scattered about. I feel like the setting is well balanced between grey moral issues, humor and dark themes. All in all feels like a Fallout game.

And there is the sandwich conversation and there is the conversation about the guy who is afraid of fire. Many things in the silver shroud.

If you feel the game has no humor you will also find that the game is also way to dark if you play with your eyes closed.

That was DARK and screwed up all the way through to the end ... but then it had a punchline that made it funny.

The Assaultron vendor at Goodneighbor made me laugh.

Curie's dialogue with NPCs can be quite funny at times too.

And of course, Codsworth. The best laugh i had with him was when he was having a one-sided conversation with the Japanese Protectron in Diamond City.

I picked my way into a bank vault only to open the door and find the skeletons of the couple who blew the wall through, a duffel of cash and a car parked under the hole.

Mannequin in a tub with other mannequins surrounding the tub with plungers and knives.

Cheers.

This game is full of gold.

Oh, I forgot about a random conversation I heard between two raiders near Dianond City.

They trick some guy into coming into their base (to get shot) and he starts throwing grenades.

But they were rocks, and he was making the grenade sounds with his mouth. The raiders were too stunned to do much, so the guy then apparantly pantomimes an assault rifle, "firing" it while backing out of the building, then gets on a "motorcycle", which doesn't "start" at first before "driving" off. While still making the sound effects with his mouth.

Best random story from raiders I've heard. Wish gamesas could've scrpted that actual scene in somewhere.

I finally found an out and out amusing bit of dialogue. A raider telling a story about a potential mark that starting throwing rocks and making sound effects for grenades. He went on to pretend to spray a machine gun around and then get on a pretend motorcycle, fight to get it started and ride off into the sunset. the raiders were so dumb struck by the guy that they didnt even think to fire a shot at him. it didnt make me laugh too much but it was entertaining to hear and gives me hope of what more to find.

I'm pretty sure that is how humor in fallout is supposed to work.

I haven't laughed at all throughout my time with the game so far, sometimes a smirk but nothing like with previous games. Well at least not dialogue related humor, I was laughing pretty hard at this video which you can see in my sig currently.

You don't have to look very hard to find the humor in this game. The sarcasm dialogue option, many of your companions, and almost every flaschiggin' inanimate object has some humor in it somewhere. I find mannequins, teddy bears, and skeletons everywhere in the world that were placed just to depict everything from an almost casual scene of murder to hardcoe partying.

But the sixual aspects of the game have been toned down in general. Really made the more interesting - even if darker - nuggets of the game less so.
